Clair De Lune
"Beatrice...Beatrice...", a faint voice is calling out. I tried to call out, but nothing came out.
"Beatrice! Help!..", the voice, it is the voice that has haunted me in my dreams since I witnessed the car accident that took a woman's life.
"Beep...Beep...Beep...", I shot up from the bed after the alarm went off. Looking at the clock, " 5 hours sleep today, currently the best record since the incident", I thought to myself.
" Today will be a better day. Just ignore the dreams like you used to, and everything will be fine. You got this, Beatrice".
Being a junior analyst in J.P.Morgan, I do need to give myself these prep talks to avoid mental breakdowns. Desperate times, desperate measures. After getting my breakfast and feeding Romeo, I am off to work.
Listening to 'Clair De Lune' on my way to work, I can't help but noticed that the rhythm is oddly familiar and soothing although this is my first time listening to it. It gave me goosebumps to be honest, and I do not like goosebumps.
On my way to work, I can't help but notice a girl crying at the roadside, hugging tightly onto her dog. Blood. Lots of blood are oozing out from the dog, but I noticed that there is a little shadow staring intently at me. "It is her dog!", I realised, but I am utterly confused about what is happening. Why can I see the shadow of the dog when others can't, and the dog is barking at me, as if he has something to say.
"OK, here goes nothing", I thought to myself. I walked past the surrounding crowds, and stopped in front of the shadow. Instead of barking, I can understand what the dog is trying to tell me, as if understanding dog language is normal.
"Dear kind soul, I do know that you can understand me clearly since you are the chosen one, and apparently, they have sent an amateur to see me off",said the dog.
"Wow, this dog has sass", I wondered, but I did not cut him off since I am curious about what is happening.
He then continued," I do not have much time left, and I need your help.See the girl crying over there? That's Lea, and she has been my partner in crime since I am born. Tell her that I am sorry for leaving her alone, and that I will always love her with all my heart. I will miss the zoomies we had, and the pizza we have stolen from her mother, and tell her to move on, to love other dogs like how she has loved me. I was a lucky dog to be loved by someone like her."
After saying that, suddenly a white light shines through the sky, and the dog is gone.
Still fathoming what is happening, I looked aorund but realised the crowd is still surrouding the poor child, as if the light did not bother them.
Thinking that I have lost my mind, I ran as fast as I could to the office and acted like nothing has happened.
