# Heaven in Hell
After that incident at the club, Alvin skipped classes which was not a new thing. As Alvin sat alone in his room, he laid on the bed, staring at the ceiling. He tried to block out those awful memories of his childhood.
When he was still a kid. One day, as he and his friends were playing in the playground. He and Damian were tight buddies since they were little kids. One kid called Percy, Percy was the biggest and strongest boy in their class and also the meanest bully. All the kids were afraid of him except Alvin. Alvin had a supernatural strength. Nobody could beat him no matter the size or height of the person. This greatly annoyed Percy.
So that particular day as the kids played in the playground, Alvin, Damian, and another boy Simon and a girl Mirabel, were having a castle contest. Alvin and Damian were already done building their own castle, they waited for Simon and Mirabel to finish theirs.
Out of nowhere, Percy walked to Simon and Mirabel and scattered the castle they were building. The poor kids watched as the bully scattered all their efforts.
"Hey! what was that for?" Alvin asked angry at what he had done.
"What are you going to do about it scaredy pants!" Percy retorted.
"Don't answer him Alvin. He's just trying to provoke you. Let's just go. C'mon Simon,Mirabel" Damian said sensing trouble.
"Hmmm. You are right! He's not worth it. All it takes is a blow and his down. Let's go Simon and Mirabel" Alvin said spitefully. As Simon stood up to go, Percy suddenly pushes him violently and he fell crying out in pain. Mirabel rushed to help him up. She walks towards Percy and slapped him.
" You're such a bully" she said. Percy pushed her and she fell. She cried out in pain.
"Don't try that next time silly girl" Percy said harshly. Alvin wanted to beat Percy to a pulp but Damian held him back.
"I thought you had a little bit of strength in you. I never knew you were such a coward just like your mum is a coward." Percy said and Alvin clenched his hands in anger.
"Don't you dare call my mum" Alvin said his self control at the brink of crashing.
"Or what are you going to do coward? Your mum is a cow…." Before Percy could finish his sentence. Alvin held him by the throat, lifting him up. Percy legs were no longer touching the ground. He was gasping for breath. Alvin threw him violently to the ground, it would be a miracle if Percy didn't sustain any injury. Percy looks up in fright as Alvin finger nails grew longer like talons. His forest green eyes turned red, and two horns grew from his head.
"Mummy help! Alvin's a demon!" Percy cried as he ran for his life. As Alvin turned to face Simon and Mirabel. Mirabel screamed in fright and ran, shouting
"Go away from me. You're a monster" both Mirabel and Simon ran away only Damian stayed, though he looked frightened. He still stayed.
Suddenly, Alvin turned back to normal. But Mirabel's word haunted him. He was a monster. He ran to a corner in the playground crying. He hated the way he was, He wished he was never born.
After that day, Damian and Alvin, became more than close friends. They became brothers. Percy, Mirabel, and Simon on the other hands avoided Alvin. Whenever they saw him, they ran away in fear. They kept telling people that Alvin was a monster but nobody believed them.Everyone thought that they were just playing childish games. That memory scarred Alvin for life. He buried the memory until yesterday after the club incident. The memory he buried, arose.
Alvin shook his head as if to block out the memory. But he could still hear Mirabel's scream ecohing in his head.
"I need fresh air" Alvin thought and stood up. He wore a sweater and blue jeans. As he strolled down the street, he was gathering a lot of females attention, which was normal for him, but he didn't need females attention now. He needed some time alone to think and clear his head. He wore the hood of his sweater and put on some dark shades as he left the Elite resident to the resident nearby where common folks lived. Alvin had never been to this part of the city. As he strolled, he watched people going about their business. He saw a small bakery where people lined up to buy bread. The aroma coming out of the Bakery was so tantalizing, one could almost taste the bread just by perceiving its sweet aroma.
As Alvin looked to the left, he saw a little child, not more than six or seven years. He looked so haggard, so lean, one could even see his ribs. He stared hungrily at the breads and pastries on display in the Bakery. Alvin felt his heart stir with sympathy. Just as he was about to approach the boy. A teenage girl, with shiny black hair and the most beautiful and unusual ash-gray eyes. Her dusky skin reminds one of the sun. Her full luscious lips look like ones made for kissing.
"Damn! She's a sight for sore eyes." Alvin thought as leaned against the wall watching her.
"Hi Handsome!" The girl who was apparently Pearl said. The little boy blushed.
"Would you like to have some bread, they smell nice." Pearl said softly. Her sweet voice made Alvin's heart skipped a beat. The child nodded.
"Well then let's go get some." Pearl said and held his hands. But the boy refused to go.
"What's the matter sweetie?" Pearl asked.
"Am dirty. People would stare at you. If they see you with me" The child said solemnly. Pearl bent down and started turning her head as if scrutinizing the boy.
"What's your name?" She asked.
"Am Charles but my mum calls me Charlie"The boy said.
"Well.... Charlie. Here's what I think. I see a very handsome boy named Charlie that's is too good looking, that people have to stare at his handsome face" Pearl said ruffling Charlie's head. The boy smiled, likewise did Alvin.
"And am not just saying that to make you feel good. You see I believe there's a good in everyone, no matter how bad the person is. That good is always there. Just like the butterfly. At first it's an irritating caterpillar later it turns into a very beautiful butterfly. So if anyone calls you dirty next time tell them you are handsome. If they say who told you so, tell them Miss Pearl told you so" Pearl said and Charlie grinned. She held his hands and entered the Bakery. When they emerged, they were carrying a bag. Charlie's face was lit with Joy. He held Pearl's hands and led her to an uncompleted building where a woman with two babies sat in a corner. Unknown to them. Alvin followed them stealthily. He watched through an open window in the building.
Charlie narrated all that happened to his mum. She thanked Pearl profusely.
"I didn't do anything ma'am. I wish I had more. I would have done more. So pls don't thank me ma'am." Pearl said. Pearl stayed for a while playing with the twins babies whose names were Andrew and Angela. As it was getting late, she stood up to go. She pecked Charlie on his cheeks and waved them bye.
As she crossed the street. Alvin followed her, when suddenly there was a crowd of people rushing to see a band playing and he lost sight of her. Alvin groaned in frustration. He felt better seeing someone special like her today.
"Why are you looking for her? She's special and deserves someone special, not a demon like you" his demon taunted him. Alvin sighed and left.
The next day, he went to visit Charlie's mum and gave her keys to a bungalow he just bought. She was beside herself with tears of joy.
"Thank you so much Young man. You are an angel" she said.
"No thank you instead" he said and ruffled Charlie's head affectionately. Charlie hugged Alvin legs.
After that day, something opened in Alvin and that was hope. Alvin gave up on himself a long time ago. But after seeing that girl. There was a ray of hope within him. He smiled as he slept that night for the first time in years, forgetting about his haunting secrets.
