Chapter 5 – Triggered * * * “Daisy, my trip with Isabella has nothing to do with you. Please refrain from doing these kinds of things in the future.” I swallowed the lump in my throat as I brushed off my childhood friend. I dared not look into her eyes as I said those words, fearing it would impact Daisy. No matter how stupid it may sound, I truly care for this little woman with all my heart. We have been together for as long as I can remember, and I couldn’t help but look at her like an additional member of my family. Seeing her cry or be sad doesn’t suit me well. Moreover, knowing that it was my fault created a bitter taste in my mouth. “Dane…she is just making a fool out of you. She is in a relationship, yet she asked you out of nowhere. Why can’t you open your damn mind for once? It is so easy to see that she has a malicious intent.” I frowned hard. Of course, I know. I was used as a fool, but my pride as a man will never admit. Furthermore, there is a voice in my mind saying that Isabella has no other intention with me. That she was just acting like a friend – no more, no less. “Daisy, please. You sounded so cheap when saying those words. Grow up and have a life of your own.” I turned around, daring not to await Daisy’s reply. This is for her own good, anyway. She needs to get over her little obsession with me – the sooner the better. This would definitely dampen our relationship, but cutting her evilness before it grew even bigger is the best for all of us. I’d rather be the villain of her life than push her into her demise. However, none of the concerns I have for Daisy were able to prepare my weak heart. Only a day passed by when I had that conversation with her. Daisy did not run after me and that somehow made me think that she finally realized that we were living two different lives. Unfortunately, the scene happening right in front of me is the exact opposite of that. Daisy sent a message, asking me to help her with something. I did not think much about it and immediately agreed. Who knows that she will knock me off to sleep right after I enter the room? It was already late when I opened my eyes as I witnessed a vicious act that Daisy was pulling right in front of my eyes. I tried to move but my body was tightly bound to a chair. My mouth was gagged, keeping all the words within my lips. My eyes could only widen in fear and shock as I looked at Isabella in the crevice of the locker. The poor woman was only left with her underwear as Daisy started scribbling something on her skin. She was bound to her chair like I do, letting Daisy do as she wishes. My crazy childhood friend is even humming like there was nothing in her surroundings. There is a clear smile on Daisy’s face as she meticulously draws on Isabella. Now that my eyes had adjusted to the darkness inside the locker, the scribblings became clear, making my eyes even bigger. Words like “PIG” and “B*ITCH” could be read as Isabella’s face was filled with tears. Anger soared within me as Daisy lightly laughed after finishing another of her masterpieces. Contentment could be seen on her face as she slapped Isabella for every word she wrote on the latter’s skin. My tongue tried to push the gag on my mouth, giving its best to at least help the aggrieved woman. Needless to say, the cloth was only drenched with my spit in the end, wasting all my stupid efforts. “I know your type. I’ve seen a lot of women who play the good child role like you – so many that I lost count of it…” Daisy’s voice is cold, bringing a shiver down my spine. The smile on her face was long gone, leaving only a human mask devoid of any emotion. I had never seen her like this, not in the entirety of our lives. Somehow, my anger momentarily vanished, making me think that it was my fault for pushing her during our last conversation. Perhaps, I should’ve played my usual older brother role, trying to coax her with all the reasons I have in my head. No matter what, it was already late and all I could do was to release disgruntled sounds to attract Daisy’s attention. I need her to stop. Those words could still be removed but anything more than that might be considered a loss case for us. “…We can stop as long as you promise that you will never talk to Dane. Is this a deal? Tell me, Isabella. Are we clear?” Like a man being chased by a wild animal, I feel like my heart will jump out of my chest any moment now. Somehow, I had this small hope that Isabella would obediently nod and get this situation over in the blink of an eye. A spark flew from my eyes when Daisy pulled down her gag, giving back Isabella’s ability to speak. Daisy could be reasonable as long as people agree with her greatest desire. I don’t want to sound like a shitty Chad, but that desire is obviously me and no one else. Now, if only Isabella would be as clear-headed as she usually is, then this could easily end in the most peaceful way. “F*ck off, b*itch. You are nothing but a deluded psycho! Just freaking get a life. Even Dane was so fed up –“ A skin-tearing slap finished Isabella’s retort. I closed my eyes as more of it followed, completely shutting Isabella’s mouth. Daisy showed no remorse as she skillfully used all her force to hurt the poor woman. I bet not even my strongest prayer could save us now that we reached this point. As to how things will end between us, only Daisy’s temper would be able to tell.
