Chapter 6 – A Rift

Chapter 6 – A Rift * * * Blood dripped from Isabella’s mouth. Her cheeks turned red, ruining her beautiful face. Nail marks were evident on her skin as droplets of blood flowed from it. I’m not the vain type, but those wounds will surely leave some scars. Poor Isabella. If it was me, then there is no doubt that I would despise Daisy to the core as well. Pity filled my heart. Daisy’s violent tendencies had always been rampant when we were young, but this is the first time she took it to this level. Never in my life did I see her acting so barbaric, letting her emotions burst into her fist. k********g and violence are no small matter, especially for teens like us. This is no laughing matter. Different conflicting thoughts started to change my affection for Daisy. My patience finally met its end as my feet escaped the tight rope. I immediately kicked the locker, announcing my presence to the pitiful Isabella. We both look disheveled but that doesn't matter now. After all, our figures will not change Daisy’s mind. Perhaps, the presence of another human being helped her feel at least, letting Isabella’s tears flow down her eyes. Her viciousness vanished together with her bloodlust. She is currently far from the lively and beautiful woman who caught my attention, yet this figure immediately created a space in my heart. As for Daisy, I could easily tell I had nothing but hatred for her. What happened in this room is beyond what a sane human could ever do. For Pete’s sake, I swear she needs mental help. I shot her spiteful stares, communicating my hatred towards her actions. Much to my dismay, Daisy only smiled. Her face showed no remorse as she slowly walked to the locker. Her soft and white fingers touched my skin, tracing every part of it. A dreadful shiver was sent down my body, but I did not let it show in my eyes. I can’t let Daisy learn that her touch affects me. Enough is enough and I don’t want to waver right now. She needs to be set up straight and it should be done at the soonest possible time. “Dane. I bet you learned your lesson now. No matter b*itch between us, okay?” Those words stabbed right through my pride. It hurt my manhood more than anything else. The remaining likeness I have for Daisy vanished in an instant, replaced by a seething anger. “Untie me.” My cold voice echoed through the room. Even so, Daisy did not even flinch as she grabbed my cheeks with her bloody hands. Her face was devoid of any kind of emotions as she caressed my face. It has been a while since I last figured out the thoughts running through this woman’s mind. Isabella intensified her cry as she hid her naked body from my sight. I could only save a bit of her ego by looking somewhere else in the room. “Hey, Dane. Why are you so stupid? You’d rather choose a woman who is clearly messing up with you than a devoted girl like me. Do you have any loose screws or anything? Perhaps this is a perfect example of a youth’s foolishness.” A smirk was drawn on my face. Loose screws or whatsoever, Daisy is the last person who has a right to say those words to me. After all, if it is true that I have some loose screws, then Daisy would be missing all of it in her head. “Who cares? It has nothing to do with you even if I turned crazy for Isabella. Wake up, Daisy. We are no longer children. Stop those daydreams of yours and your cheap obsession. Neither do I want it nor I need it.” Daisy did her best not to show it, but I definitely saw her flinch after receiving my rebuttal. Her eyes turned red, confirming the fact that it affected her a lot. A lump was formed in my throat as I looked at her dejected expression. Even so, I did not console her until Daisy threw a leer at me. It was so disdainful that it made me want to apologize right on the spot. If not for Isabella’s cry, then I might have actually given in to Daisy’s fallen mood. “I see…” Those words registered in my mind, yet none of my brain cells were able to understand them. I couldn’t figure out if Daisy finally accepted the fact that there was nothing between us, or if she was just being sarcastic. However, my body unconsciously breathed a sigh of relief when she finally removed the rope from my hand. I evaded her eyes as she crossed the distance between us, making sure that I wouldn’t give her another false hope. Later, I will do my best to retain the friendship that we have between each other. Needless to say, this time, I will make sure that no such thing as romantic love will ever enter her brain. We will be normal friends, the same as everyone else. “…Bye, Dane.” I lifted my head upon hearing Daisy’s voice. It was the first time that she ever used that tone, giving me a bad vibe down to my feet. This might sound audacious from my end, but I was headstrong that Daisy would never give up on me no matter what. Since childhood, the fact that she loved me and no one else had been an established fact within my brain. Somehow, I couldn’t accept the fact that she threw me away right after our short conversation. Well, that’s what I want but not this fast! I opened my mouth to stop her from walking away, but no words came out of my lips. Only a helpless grunt reached my ears as Daisy’s figure slowly drifted away. For the first time, Isabella’s existence vanished in my head despite her loud sobs and wails. Daisy filled my thoughts to the brim as foreboding impressions slowly dawned on me, creating a shallow part in my heart.
