Chapter 1
Taking one glance at myself, I smiled. I don't like the colour red but my mate is enchanted by anything red so tonight, I decided to surprise him.
My off shoulder red dress reached my mid thighs and the deep v-neck exposed a little bit of cleavage. Just like Lucas likes.
Since tomorrow would be the day he would be crowned as the Alpha, I had this crazy idea to give him an early present by giving myself to him.
He is my mate so there’s nothing wrong with sleeping with him. After all, when tomorrow comes, he will take me as his mate officially or so I thought.
I had been sceptical about the whole surprise thing but Kiran boosted my confidence.
As I walk down the hallway that leads to his room, I can't help but feel giddy inside.
This is it.
“ Are you excited?” I asked my wolf, melody, who had been awfully quiet throughout the evening.
“ I don't have a good feeling about this.” Melody replied, making me snort.
“ What could go wrong? He is our mate.” I shot back.
Lucas had been all about how he could not wait to ascend the position of alpha and take us as his mate. He never shied from talking about his s****l expectations from us and that had me all excited.
Now that it is finally happening, how could I not be happy?
Melody retreated to the back of my mind and I shrugged, figuring out she was just anxious.
I was about to push the door to his room open when weird sounds reached my ears.
Pressing my ears closer, the sound of moans assaulted my ears.
“ Yes, just like that Lucas!” An awfully familiar voice moaned and I froze, my heart squeezing painfully in my chest.
I clutched my chest, my breath coming in short gasps.
“ Harder Lucas, I love how hard you go on me.” Kiran moaned.
If I wasn't sure at first, I confirmed the person my mate was cheating on me was none other than my best friend.
Why? I wanted to shout to him and to her too.
One was my mate who promised to share the rest of his life with me and the other was my best friend.. How could they do this to me?
As my heart clenched painfully in my heart, I just wanted to turn around and run away but my legs seemed to have a mind of their own.
Before I knew it, I pushed the door open and walked in.
The scene that greeted me almost made me go crazy.
Kiran was bent on all fours as Lucas pounded into her confines, his hands fisting her red locks as if he was obsessed with them. Perhaps he was.
“ Close the door behind you if you want to join in the fun.” Lucas’ cold and distant voice sounded and I almost flinched.
His words sounded more of a person wronged, as if I made a mistake walking to them cheating on me.
“ How could you, Lucas?” The tremble in my voice gave out the pain of betrayal I was feeling inside.
Lucas clicked his tongue in annoyance before pulling out of Kiran and smacking her ass, making her moan.
Turning around, he didn't even bother to hide his nakedness. It's like he was proud flaunting his sinful manhood to me.
Kiran pulled the sheets to cover her nakedness. At least she had the decency to not show me her adulterous body. I did not miss the mocking smirk on her lips.
“ What's the deal with you? What are you so mad about when I am having fun?” Lucas snorted, making me give him an unbelievable look.
Was he being serious? What's the deal with me? He was cheating on me with my best friend and he expected me to be fine with it?
“What's the deal with me? Why did you have to stick your d**k into her hole?” I half yelled and the next moment, a slap so hot resounded in the room.
Shock seared through my body.
He slapped me. My own mate raised his hand on me after I questioned about his infidelity.
“ How dare you talk to your Luna like that? Do you have a death wish?” Lucas bellowed with a growl, his eyes turning a shade darker showing that his wolf was trying to take control.
Yet that wasn't what shocked me but the title he bestowed upon Kiran.
“ L-luna?” I stuttered, my heart racing and beating so loudly that I would dance to its beat only that it was not rhythmical.
“ You heard it right. Kiran will be my Luna after tomorrow.” Lucas declared, his words piercing through my heart.
“ I am your mate, Lucas. You can't do this to me.” I cried, pleading with him.
Declaring Kiran as his mate meant one thing for me; rejection.
My mate was going to reject me and honestly being a weak omega, that could kill me.
“ And why can't I do that? Kiran is the woman for me. The moon goddess must have made a mistake pairing me with some weak and pathetic wolf like you. You don't qualify to be my mate and Luna of this pack.” Lucas spat, disgust apparent on his face.
Shoving those ruthless words on my face, Lucas didn't seem to hold any guilt on his face.
“ But you said…” I started only to be cut off by Kiran’s mocking laughter.
“ You are so naive, Everly. What alpha wants to be mated to an omega like you. Do you want to turn Lucas into an embarrassment!” Her words stabbed my already wounded heart.
She was right. No alpha wanted to be paired with someone like me. I should have known that but I held on to the promises Lucas made to me.
He even declared that he didn't care whether I was an omega, he would proudly acknowledge me as his mate so what changed?
Did that mean he had been lying to me all this time?
But why?
Why did he have to be so cruel?
If he never intended to take me as his mate, why entertain the idea? Raising my hopes up then shattering them to pieces? Was that his intention all along?
Turning to look at Lucas who was busy groping Kiran, I felt bitter inside.
I believed him like a fool and trusted her the most yet they didn't consider my feelings when they decided to play with my emotions.
I always thought that Kiran was too close to Lucas but she reassured me that they were just friends.
I believed her words and suspected nothing. Looking at them now, I wondered how many times they had laughed at me,snickering at my foolishness.
“ How long?” I blurted out, unable to stop myself.
I knew the answer might shatter me even more but I needed to hear how long they had been f*****g behind my back.
“ Long enough for Kiran to carry my child.” Lucas proudly announced and I sucked in deep breath.
Pregnant? Kiran was pregnant with my mate's baby? How could she? How could they?
Turning around, I walked out of the room in a daze.
“Close the door behind you when you leave.” Lucas shouted and Kiran chuckled.
