On that same day, Keila and Lucio quarreled over his tablet. Their dad, Alexander, has delivered them the bad news. It was the middle of the night when they feel something off. Colder night, scary voices, and undescribable chant. They heard the birds squeaking from outside and strong winds blew harder. He couldn't describe where it is coming from. All they knew was, that it was a terrifying night. Alexander couldn't sleep because he is frightened. He ran out of his room and go to Keila's room.
"Keila!" he screamed and cover himself up.
Keila is not in her room. He is afraid but he has to look for his sister.
"Keila, where are you?" he continued shouting.
He jump off the bed and started to walk. The lights are off and he could barely see things. He is trying to grasp for the switchboard to turn the lights on. He stumbled into something hard and kneel.
"Ouch! It hurts," he murmured in a minimal voice while trying to stand up.
Someone have turned on the lights and he felt relieved.
"Why are you here?" Keila questioned his presence in her room.
She helped her to get up and wait for him to answer.
"I tried to look for you because I was too scared. I can hear whistles, and birds are squeaking and it frightened me. Can I stay here with you?" he explained with a shaky voice.
"I did not hear anything. I came out to check you in your room but you weren't there," Keila said calmly.
She holds his shoulders and hugs him.
"Sorry about earlier. I was mad at you. Dad even berated you because of me, " he apologized for how he acted.
"It is over now. Let us forget about that." She replied smiling.
"Can I sleep here with you?" he said asking for permission hoping Keila will allow staying in her room.
"Sure. Are you hurt? Let me check on your toes," she said.
She treated her wounded knees when someone get into Keila's room.
"Master is here and he wanted to see you two!" Selda announced.
Keila held his hand as they walk slowly until they reach the Master's bedroom.
"Father, I am glad you are here! What time did you arrive?" Lucio hugged his father so tight.
He missed his father's company so much.
"Just now, why are you both still awake?" he asked.
"I am afraid of the night. But they faded away when you arrive," he replied with confidence.
He missed this man that he adore terribly. Alexander took his hands off him and look at the two of them sadly. He suddenly looks indifferent, cold, and unhappy upon seeing Lucio's eyes. He felt strange about his presence.
"Dad, where is Mommy?" he asked again Alexander whose reaction hasn't changed.
"I am sorry son, she will not be with us starting tonight." He answered in a very heavy and shady voice.
"Why? What happened to her?" he again questioned his father.
"We had an accident on our way home here. I just got out of the hospital, your Mom did not survive. Can't you see my bruises?" he told them.
Keila cried out loud. Lucio stayed silently with his eyes grew bigger. He just realize he was silently crying when a few drops of tears touches his cheeks.
"How come? She promised me to be home," he said unwilling to listen to what his father had just said.
"No, son. We will no longer be seeing Mom for good. I am so sorry, it was my fault. Things happened too quickly that I can barely remember everything," Alexander stated in shock.
"No! This is not happening, Dad! This is just a dream. Mom is alive and she will still go home to be with us," Lucio shouted in despair.
He can't imagine how his life will become without his Mom Therese. The most loving and the best mother he could ever wish to have. They have never thought that their Dad, Alexander will come to deliver them the bad news. The report brought their senses and their feelings back to even get closer in support of each other. It was the middle of the night when he feel something off and this thing happened.
"Everything that I felt earlier may be a sign that this is going to happen," he told his father and his sister Keila.
They held each other's arms and Lucio can't hold his tears back.
"Dad, I wanna see Mom please!" he requested his father whose face turned into the most lonely man on earth.
"We will go to visit Mom tomorrow, son!" he said while in pain.
"How're your bruises?" he checks on him feeling concerned.
"I am okay. The nurses have checked on me already, I'll be fine. Don't worry about me," Alexander insisted.
"I wanna sleep with you and Keila. I am still afraid, Dad!" he honestly said to his father.
"Alright, we will sleep together. Let's have some rest," he finally ended their conversation.
This one was Lucio's worst nightmare. It was the worst news that they ever received in the family. They are highly recognized as a family of good luck and now it broke that idea. Losing their Mom is the hardest thing he can deal with. He is sure that he will be missing her forever and it will never be easy to forget her.
"Ssssshhhh!" said Keila when she heard Lucio crying while sleeping.
He might be having a bad dream.
"Lucio! Wake up," she murmured while tapping his smooth face.
"Mom?" he said softly.
"Stop it! Mom is dead, Lucio." She said and slaps him in the face.
"Keila, why did you do that? I am already awake, I just can't get over what happened." He complained holding his face.
"Sorry, I thought you were still dreaming. I can't sleep." She answered wearily.
"Me too, I am so devastated. That person who killed Mom should be liable for her death, he must go to prison or better be murdered too." He wishfully thinks of the best way to get revenge.
"Enough, Lucio! Mom is dead but we still have Dad. We should protect him because he is the only person we got. Remember, we have no relatives and nobody truly cares for us if not because of our money no one will ever stand on our side," she exclaimed.
"I understand, sister. It is not that easy to forgive and forget what they did to Mom. I love her so much," he again broke down.
"I hate to see you cry so please stop! I love Mom too. We have no choice but to accept the fact that she will no longer be around us. Come on, Lucio!" she said trying to lift his feelings.
He listened and agreed with what she has just said. They heard some noises from outside Keila's room. Sounded like everyone is getting busier.
"Let's go outside, it is already eight o'clock in the morning," Keila remarked.
She grabs his hand and walks out of the room. They are wondering what was going on. They remember that they are supposed to see their Mom.
"Keila, are we not supposed to go today to see Mommy?" he said but is getting confused with the people around them.
"Yes," she answered shortly.
"Selda, what's going on?" he asked one of the helpers.
But she just looked at him and did not bother to give him the answer.
"What are these people doing?" he asked while observing.
"I don't know. Let's go and look for Daddy," Keila replied while looking around.
They went to his home office and he was just right there sitting while holding his mug of dark coffee.
"Dad, what's going on outside? We should get ready to go to Mom," he reminded him about their suppose whereabouts today.
"We do not have to go to see Mom, she will be here soon," he said.
"What do you mean?" Lucio inquired.
"Master, she is here!" Reyes announced that made them give him a confusing sight.
"Who is she?" Lucio called on wanting his father's reply to his query.
"Your Mom. She is here," Alexander announced without any emotions.
Lucio cannot define his father's reaction. It is confusing to look at and suspicious but he is too young to put any meaning to his gestures. They ran towards the mansion's main entrance and waited for the arrival of their Mom's body. Reyes is holding a very fine and beautiful jar. He put it on the table next to their altar in front of their large living room.
"What have they done to Mom?" he cried when he couldn't find his body but just a jar that Reyes put on the table.
"I decide to have her body burned. Cremation is what the process is called. I did it so we can still feel her presence in this magnificent mansion she used to live with. I know she doesn't want to leave us however this may be her call and there is nothing we can do about it. This is just what we can do to keep our family intact despite everything," his father explained.
His father holds the jar and murmurs his last message to his beloved.
