When their young mom died, Keila became more of an attention-dragger, and most time he will disregard her brother.
"Sister, can you attend on my graduation day?" young master Lucio asked.
"I am not sure. I have participated in other school events this year so I am pretty busy. Did you ask Dad already?" she replied without taking a glance at her brother.
"I know what his answers will be," he answered sadly.
Keila chuckled while busy browsing on her phone. Sometimes he feels like he is living in an empty bottle. Enclosed, alone, and cannot breathe. When their mother Therese left, their lives changed rapidly. Colder than ever, too much silence especially at night and no one can make him feel the warmth of real love. Gloomy days and he can't imagine living the same agony for many years to come. Alexander, their father has never been busier in taking care of their family business. They seldom meet and talk. If they do, that's the only time he feels like he has a family. Keila wouldn't even care about him. She has changed. A lot.
"How come he wouldn't come to attend the special day of his beloved son? You are his favorite," Keila said feeling envious.
"Making more money is his favorite and he made it his life," he replied with bad feelings towards their father.
"Why don't you give it a try or do you want me to do it?" she volunteered.
"Okay, I don't wanna feel bad if he said no straight to my face. Maybe you do it, only if you would like," he pushed her.
"Sure," she answered mischievously.
"Thanks!" he said.
Keila did not respond and pay more attention to what she's been doing. He wanted to have a close relationship with his sister however he sometimes feels like she doesn't want it. That is why it's a privilege for him and he can't refuse whenever Keila would offer something to him.
It was Saturday evening when Alexander got home. It's a lucky day if he can stay and sit with them longer. They rarely talk facing each other. Lucio is waiting for his sister to ask his father about his graduation day.
"How's everything, father?" Lucio asked and started the conversation.
They are having their dinner together and it only happens on weekend but the rest of the hours he spends on some other things that he doesn't have any idea about.
"Things are doing just great. How are you, my son?" Alexander inquired.
He would simply check on him than Keila. He never heard him asking how's Keila and that may be the reason why his sister is having some sort of resentment.
"Doing good, Dad. I just miss you and Mom. How I wish we can spend more time together," he said hoping for a positive response to uplift his mood.
"Come on, Lucio! You know Dad is busy making a living to give us the things we need. There is no time for your drama. Mom is okay, she accepted her fate already," Keila exclaimed annoyed.
"It is not being dramatic. Everything seemed different when mom left," he continued.
"Son, I understand how you feel. We love Mom but her time was up. It's hard for all of us but we have to accept the reality. I am here for the two of you," Alexander answered.
"I know. Dad, do you recall when was the last time you dropped me off at school?" he said wistfully.
"I can't recall. Why?" Alexander replied with confusion about what his son is trying to relay.
"I am going to graduate on Monday and I am hoping you can attend to march onto the stage," he stated with his fingers crossed waiting for his answer.
"Really? Wow, how time flies. My only son will be in high school next year!" Alexander said proudly.
"Yes, can you come?" Lucio directly asked his father.
He recognized the anger in Keila's face although she is not saying anything.
"What time is it going to be?" Alexander asked.
"It's two in the afternoon on Monday. It will just be held in the school gymnasium." He informed his father and did not give a single glance at his sister.
"Sure. I am so proud of you! We will be there, right Keila?" his father announced.
"I am busy, Dad. I have tons to do," she complained frowning.
"Is it more important than your brother? We only gather once in a blue moon. Whatever it is that you are planning to do, hold it for a day and we will be attending your brother's graduation rites," he commanded.
"Dad? When I graduated I did not even bother to ask you and Mom to be at my event and now you are asking me to attend his?" Keila blurted in jealousy.
"Sorry! It was all my fault but don't let this getaway on your brother's graduation day. We are going as I say," Alexander's final words.
Keila could no longer hold her emotions and walked out of their dining room.
"Never mind it, she will get over it soon." His father trying to despise the negative vibes in the room.
"Thanks, Dad!" he said smiling.
It was the first time the public is going to meet his father. The famous and most wealthy man in the province. The real estate and jewelry tycoon.
"Why did you do that?" Keila confronted him.
She waited for him in his room while he was left in the dining discussing with Alexander.
"What did I do?" he asked having no idea what his sister was talking about.
"You asked Dad to attend your graduation day? We have talked about it already and I promised to be the one to inform him. Why all of a sudden you spill it?" she continued in rage.
"I am sorry, Keila! I failed to control my excitement and forgot about our agreement. I was thinking earlier it was the best opportunity to open things up," he pleaded to hope for him to be pleased.
"I hate you! You are selfish and feeling a brat. None among us was his favorite. Don't you ever think that he likes you more than he does to me," she bitterly said.
"I am not saying anything. What are you thinking?" Lucio replied who can't comprehend the anger his sister was feeling towards him.
"You don't get it because you are conceited and acting like a pathetic and miserable kid of the Moreau. You are trying to get Dad's affection. He loves his fame and his wealth more than any of us, remember that," she insists.
"Dad loves us that is why he is doing everything to give us a better life," he reasoned out.
"Stop it, loser!" she shouted and leave.
He was left sitting in his bed and is getting confused about his sister's reaction. She was never like that before. She has completely changed. He can't help thinking that she maybe is lacking an acknowledgment from the family, especially from his Dad. He decided to grasp some air so he come up to the roof deck. Their mansion was the largest residence in the province of Siquijor. It has an elevator and an escalator to give easy access to all corners of the mansion. Their family is living the monarch's life with their servants.
"What are you doing here, son?" Alexander asked Lucio who came unnoticed.
"I just need some air. I can't get the idea why Keila is mad at me. I don't wanna dig deeper into it but I can't help because I am concerned about her," he stated with deep sighs.
"I don't want you two having misunderstandings, I'll speak to her," Alexander replied but Lucio grab him to stop him.
"No please, Dad. I don't want her to get angrier with me. No more trouble, please. I will just try to understand her. Sorry, if I was too pathetic for everyone to comprehend. I am acting like not a man," he continued.
"Okay. But we will be having a complete family on your graduation day, whether she likes it or not." He announced and all of the negative vibes faded away.
"Thanks, Dad!" he replied happily and hug him.
How he missed this moment with his father.
It is his graduation day. His father canceled all his meetings and appointments to attend the most memorable event in his life. Even Keila has left no choice but to be with them. Keila has been in the bad mood all day. As a treat, Alexander brought them a special dinner in the most expensive hotel.
"I am planning to send you to Manila. That is where you will continue your secondary education," Alexander started.
"But Dad, this is the place where I was born. I don't wanna be far away from Mom and Keila," he rebuts.
"No, you must follow my orders. I know what's best for you. Besides, I stay in Manila most of the time and Keila will take care of everything that is left in the mansion. It is final!" Alexander's last words.
