Days had gone by and we hadn't said a word to each other since the incident. I spent most of my time alone in my room but decided to stretch my legs and left to get a glass of water. Matthew sat in the living room trying to act as if he was focused on some random book. I pulled a glass from the cabinet and looked out the window seeing that it was almost dawn. I poured some water in the glass then went to him. "I need to use your phone." I said holding my hand out. He gave it to me as I punched in her number. "Mind telling me who that is?" He pried but I ignored him holding the phone to my ear. She picked up the phone I sighed in relief. She instructed me to meet her at the club at 10 then hung up before I could answer her. I gave the phone back to him and headed towards my room. I got dressed and checked the time seeing I had a few hours. Matthew then came in with the book, "I hope you're not gonna try and convince me to stay after all this." I tried to joke but was still serious about my decision. "I just don't want leave things on bad terms." He gave a sad smile. "I, uh, wanted to give you something but it won't be here till tomorrow." He scratched his head. "Well is it that important?" I asked sitting down. He shook his head as if he was getting choked up. I gestured for him to sit next to me and he followed suit. "I know it's not fair for me to impose my self on your life and then leave when things go bad. I just don't want you involved with it because that's not fair to you or your family." I grabbed his hand. He still moped and I sympathetically held him. "It's just I uh..." he trailed off as his breathing staggered. "I know." I stroked his head, "Just don't say it or else I'll feel like shit." I chuckled somberly. "Can I at least get a kiss goodbye." He ran his thumb over my arm. I look up and softly kissed him which he reciprocated. He then got up swiftly leaving my room. I fell back onto the bed in frustration staring at the ceiling.
Mira's POV
I stomped out my cigarette as I made it to Lily's town. I tried calling her but she didn't pick up. I assumed she would call later and strutted down the pavement. As I walked I heard a cry off in the distance which made me stop. The voice cried out again and I followed thinking it was Lily in danger. I ran through the trees as the crying intensified. I was deep into the forest when it suddenly stop. "For someone so old and experienced you sure are gullible Mira." I turned around to see Evan standing there. He had a devilish looked and I was unsurprised to see him after all this time. "And for someone so peaceful in their ignorance you sure are relentless." I combated, "You may think you have her wrapped in your little web but she'll be the end of you." I promoted pulling out another cigarette. "Actually, you may have missed a few things since out last...encounter. You see every one of you I screw and then inevitably kill, your powers become mine. Why do you think I continue to look so young handsome all these years. Meanwhile you're just some old hag." He approached me running his hands over my face. "And once I have her. I'll be capable of any and everything." His eyes were cold and calm. "You think it'll be that easy. She'll never break for you." I didn't back down. "Well seems to me like she's already breaking and I just have to wait until the opportune moment." He pulled my collar off my shoulder kissing it. I quickly pulled a knife out my purse ramming it into his stomach. He stumbled back and let out a laugh pulling it out. "God you're as predictable as ever." He didn't bleed as he went from cheeky to angry lunging towards me. He buried the knife into my chest sending us to the ground. I gasped for air trying divert the pain back onto him to no avail. "I have dozens of you running through my veins. Your powers are worthless." He whispered in my ear. I began coughing up blood as he twisted the knife. "You'll lose..." I choked and he stood up fixing himself. "Says the one about to die." He pulled a handkerchief out tossing it on me. My phone began ringing and he grabbed it out my purse. "Speak of my little Angel." He answered it mimicking my voice. He then hung up tossing it back at me. "You don't even know what she's truly capable of. She's may be Vera's daughter but she's stronger and you know it." My vision blurred. He ran his hands through it hair, "Got a date love." He smiled walking off.
Lily's POV
I anxiously walked down the pavement as I made it to the club. The music was already blaring and I approached the bouncer who recognized me and let me in. I instantly went to the lounge area looking around for Mira. I couldn't find her and decided to wait at the bar in case she was late. The bartender gave me a vodka soda and I sipped it impatiently. I tried keeping my mind off of Matthew and thought about where I would go from now. I took another big sip then looked into my glass seeing something white bubbling at the bottom. The bartender walked away when he saw I noticed and I quickly got up. "Fuck..." I covered my mouth trying not to panic. I ran to the bathroom pushing pass all the drunk dancing people in my way. I bursted into a stall trying to make myself puke as the drug was already taking affect. My vision began getting hazy and I stood up in a sweat. I heard footsteps outside the stall and pulled the knife out of my bag. "You and I both know you don't wanna do that." His voice rang out. "Where's Mira." My voice was already shaky as he tried to open the stall. "You know it's so unfortunate. I mean had you not reached out to her I wouldn't have had to kill her." I covered my mouth in shock as he said that. My legs then began feeling like jello and I dropped to the ground in a weakly. I looked up the see the stall unlock and open on its own and coward behind the toilet. He walked in casually bending down in front of me with an intense look. "Don't worry I didn't give you enough to fully knock you out. Just enough to render you useless to yourself." He reached out and I closed my eyes in fear. He grabbed me pulling me back up to my feet. I kept my eyes closed as he grabbed my face, "Don't worry. You'll probably enjoy this more than me." He whispered running his hand over my chest. He then turned me around pinning my arm against my back. He pulled my skirt up pressing against me, "You know we could have a lot more fun if you wanted this as much as me." He whispered putting his hand down my underwear. My face was pressed against the dirty stall wall and my wrist was bruising from his grip. He then pulled my underwear down kicking my legs apart. "Don't worry I'm not gonna f**k you." He let my arm go, "I'll wait for you tell me to. But if you try anything I will." He went down rubbing his hands over my ass. I could feel him breathing between my legs as he held me up. He buried his tongue in me and I winced trying to block the sensation. He went deeper and I could feel sweat dripping down my forehead and chest. He came up kissing me forcefully and I bit his lip in response. He cursed licking the blood off his lip then wrapped his hand around my neck. "I actually like you Lily. And if you keep rejecting me I will only make things worse for you and Matthew." He tightened his grip as I gasped for air. He put his hand back between my legs then licked his fingers. "Seems like your body and mind are saying two completely different things." I was now kicking the stall in pain and deprivation. He let me go and I fell to the ground heaving. He opened the stall dragging me out to the sink. I tried getting to the door but tripped on my underwear as he picked my knife off the ground. He held his wrist over my mouth cutting it open. I shook my head and tried to avoid drinking his blood but he forced it down my throat. "Can't have you going all apex on me can we." He held me by the hair. He dropped me to the floor and I coughed as the blood overtook me. "I would kill you now. But I think I'll just save you for later. Seconds are always better." He took my underwear placing it in his pocket, "I just hope you'll be a lot more 'willing' next time." He got up fixing his cuff leaving the bathroom. I grabbed the counter top helping myself up. I looked into the mirror to see my blood smeared face covered in tears. I sucked it up and turned on the water washing it off. I limped out out the bathroom hugging the wall. Aimlessly walking through the crowd, the effects of his blood and the drugs ran through my body. My body was weightless and numb as I tried to find the exit. I could sense I was being followed and walked faster through the crowd. I stumbled through what felt like and endless maze of people in fear. My arm was then grabbed and I turned around swinging thinking it was him agin. They pulled me to the side and I relentlessly kept fighting with whatever energy I had left. "Stop!" They begged pushing my arms down. I opened my eyes, not realizing they were closed, to see Matthew standing over me. He hugged me intensely almost in tears, "I'm sorry I followed you. I just couldn't let you go." He held my face trying to calm me. "What happened?" He noticed I was shaking. He saw the blood on my cheek and immediately dragged me out of the club. We made it back to his car and he helped me in the back seat. I grabbed his hand pulling him back with me, "Hey..." he stroked my hair then grabbed a towel cleaning me up.
We got back into the house and I looked to see bags and boxes packed up. "What is this?" I looked to him. He placed his keys on the counter then pulled out an envelope handing it to me. I took it and opened it to see a passport and ID in my name. I looked back to him in confusion. "So where do you wanna go?" He leaned against the counter. "What? So you’re just gonna drop everything for me?" I scoffed looking around. "If I have to I will." He calmly admitted. I looked back to the passport and ID in disbelief. "I can't believe this." I stressed putting my hands on the counter. He came behind me and I tensed up trying to move away only for him to hold me. I felt almost nauseous thinking about how Evan violated me and I tried to make him let me go. He kissed my neck and I bit my lip in angst. "I just don't want to lose you." He ran his hands over my thighs which sent intense shivers all over my body. I aggressively pushed him away shouting and he stumbled back in disbelief. “Okay! If you don’t want to be with me anymore I get it!” He tried to hold back tears. “No it’s just…” I tried to explain but instead began balling, falling to the ground. He quickly came to my aid trying to soothe me. “No matter how much you try. I won’t leave you alone in this world.” His cracked voice whispered.
We laid there as I explained any and everything I knew to Matthew up until what happened up until what Evan did to me at the club. "It's hasn't even been a full year yet and all this has happened." He slightly joked in a serious tone. "I just hope there's an end to this that isn't terrible." I fiddled with his hair. "Are you sure you want to be involved with all this. What about your family?" I sat up confronting him. "My family is already broken and complicated as it is. I don't think they'll care that I'll be half way across the country in a week running away from murderers."
THAT MORNING
Matthew slammed the trunk closed getting in the driver seat. "You ready?" He asked putting sunglasses on. I nodded and we began driving off. I looked at the house in the rear view mirror with sadness not knowing what was to come. Then out of no where a guy wearing a messenger bag jumped in front of us holding a package. Matthew hit the breaks stopping the car as he waved his hands. "Are you crazy?!" He yelled rolling down the window while simultaneously holding me back. He came to us eagerly handing us the package, "I, uh, have a message for Lily. Mira said to deliver this to her if something were to happen; which it has." He looked sad but determined. I took it instantly ripping it open. In it sat a small red decorative box. I opened it to see a necklace with similar design to the vial. Under it was a letter with a simple phrase. 'Protection shall follow when needed -M" I held it in my hands admiring the giant ruby that dangled like a tear drop wrapped in gold leaf. "What did she..." we looked back to see he was now gone. “Can things not get weirder?” Matthew stressed pulling off.
