Bramwell's POV I knew about Corvan's arrival before the council meeting — Lenora had told me the previous evening, sitting at the cottage table with the lamp between us. "He has her eyes," she said. "Without her — whatever she had behind them." "Absence?" "Presence in the wrong direction," she said. "Her eyes were always calculating forward. His are just open." I thought about this. "Bring him to the council," I said. She looked at me. "Not as her son," I said. "As a young man from the southern territories who has recently learned something difficult about his lineage and has chosen to come and see what happened next." I held her gaze.
