Dolph I watched as Sofia turned away from me in disgust and ran back towards the house. She hated me, I could feel her anger. She didn’t understand that this was out of my control. I loved her, I needed her. I pushed too much on her at once. Fuck. Why did I kiss her? I couldn’t help it, I need to feel her. She yelled at me as though I was trying to claim her as some type of property. A mate isn’t something that can be claimed like that, we are equal. I should have started with that, but everything was happening so fast. I blew it. I knew her past played a big role in her reaction. If she were raised like a normal wolf none of this would be so damn difficult. Why the hell didn’t her mom tell her the truth. What was she hiding from? And what kind of father lets their daughter go with a man like Nick. Sofia had been let down by every person she ever trusted and now me too. Sofia I finally reached the pack house at dusk. I ran up to my room and slammed the door behind me. I couldn’t hold in the sobs as I collapsed on the bedroom floor. I wanted Dolph to be different but he wasn’t. I looked around the room, I knew he’d be furious when he got back and most likely he’d drag me from the house himself. I had no idea where I would go. I had no family, no friends, nothing. He is our mate. My wolf cried. I felt pain tear through my chest. It felt as though my heart was literally on fire. He is our mate! I continued to sob. What the hell is happening to me? A while later I hear a knock at the door. “I’ll be gone in the morning, just please give me the night.” I yell, defeated. “Sofia, open the door, Love.” It was Izzy. I opened the door and as soon as I saw her, sobs began to erupt from my body once again. “There, there child… it’s alright.” She soothed me. “He did all of this because he had too. He’s just wants to mark me.” I cried “Sofia, sweet girl, that’s not true.” “Yes it is…he told me.” “Honey, Dolph is the Alpha of the largest and most powerful pack in Alaska. He has the resources and means to be with anyone he wants. He can afford the anecdote needed to live without his destined mate. I tell you that to tell you this, he loves you.” “I’ve spent my entire life being owned by a man. My father, Nick, and now even Dolph. ” “A mate isn’t just something that can be claimed, Dear. You become one. You are equal. Didn’t he tell you that? Sofia, Dolph isn’t Nick. He’s a good man, with good intentions. Don’t make him pay for someone else’s mistakes. Just promise me, you’ll stay and think about what I’ve said?” I nodded. “I know my son’s heart, Dolph loves you. He doesn’t have too, he chooses too. And you love him too, I can see it in your eyes. Your wolves may need each other-that’s very well may just be the bond. But your souls love each other.” Izzy kissed my forehead and left the room, closing the door softly behind her. I was alone with my thoughts. I curled up in the king size bed, my heart ached and so did my body. My wolf was angry with me. She felt betrayed when I had rejected Dolph. Well that made two of us, I felt betrayed by everyone. Dolph, my own wolf, even Izzy. Dolph was her son? What the hell. She could have told me, she knew what was happening. Eventually I fell asleep. For the first time since I had been at the pack house. Nightmares of Nick invaded my peaceful slumber.
