Seven

I woke up the next morning before the sun rose. I had so much energy and I couldn’t no longer pace the bedroom. So I made my way downstairs to find Izzy already hard at work cooking breakfast.

“Morning Izzy!” I beamed.

“Oh, Child, let me get a good look at you. You are radiant!” She drew me in for a hug, and I soaked in every second of it. Izzy provided a comfort I had long forgot existed. Just as she released me, a man came barreling through the kitchen.

“I knew Chef Izzy would be making something delicious this morning, I could smell it the moment I opened my eyes.” Izzy laughed as she handed the strange man a plate full of food.

He was shorter than Dolph, but stockier. His spiked blonde hair reminded me of a 2000’s music video.

“Izzy, this is Beta Henry. Alphas right hand man…”

“… and best friend!” Henry interjected.

“Nice to meet you, Henry.” I said politely.

“You as well, Sofia. You look much better than you did the night we found you. That Shilo fixed you up good, eh?”

“I feel much better, thank you for helping me.”

“Anything for the Luna, am I right Iz?!”

Izzy ignored the comment all together. Henry then grabbed one of her fresh baked cookies, planted a kiss on her cheek and ran out of the kitchen.

“Love ya Iz, later Sof!”

Izzy avoided eye contact with me as she handed me the familiar brown liquid.

“Here love, Alpha says to make sure you drink this.”

I downed the cup in one gulp. It wasn’t a pleasant taste, but I had to admit it was helping me. I was healing.

“Izzy, what is Henry talking about? What’s a Luna?”

Izzy looked at me intently for a moment and I almost thought she was going to break.

“Dear, I know you have questions and you deserve answers. But it’s not my place. Talk to the Alpha.. okay?”

I nodded, I would talk to Dolph. Later.

I ran up to my room and threw on some old clothes. I admired the closet full of clothes, all my size, all my style. I had never had so many clothes. I sighed sadly, I knew this wouldn’t last forever. But for this moment, I was going to enjoy the peace and solitude the pack house brought me.

As I was making my way down the stairs I almost ran right into Izzy.

“Where are you going in such a hurry?” She chuckled.

“I feel great, I’ve gotta get out of this house for a minute. I thought about going for a run through the woods.”

“That’s not a bad idea, fresh air will do ya some good! Follow the trail, it’ll take you through the forest, around the lake and bring ya back home.”

I made my way though the forest, walking at first then running at full speed. I felt invincible. I could feel the blood pumping through my veins, I was strong. I eventually came upon the lake. It was surreal. Crystal clear water surrounded by the tallest trees I had ever seen. I peered down into the water and looked deeply at my reflection. My eyes weren’t their normal shade of blue, they were grey. I heard a whisper deep inside me. The same one I heard the night before with Dolph.

It wasn’t me, it wasn’t my thoughts. It was her. My wolf.

Dolph

It was 5:30, I had been in meetings all day with alphas from the surrounding packs. We had established a treaty-which they knew was the smart thing to do. Our pack was double the size of any surrounding packs, they needed us more than we needed them. However, peace among the packs was the ultimate goal for all. I wasn’t really interested in the small talk about the last meeting, all I wanted was to see Sofia.

The night before was almost unbearable with her in the bathroom. Thank God she turned away when she did or I might have marked her right then. I knew I couldn’t do that, which is why I tried to keep my distance from her, but eventually I would have to tell her the truth. She was my mate, whether she liked it or I like it, we were destined to be together.

She could feel it last night, I knew she could. I could smell her arousal when I touched her. She wasn’t healed yet, she still needed to find herself first, and her wolf. Keeping my hands to myself would be painful, but I vowed not to touch her until she asked me, no begged me.

I waited patiently for Dolph to get home. I had so many questions about my wolf. I could feel the excitement resinating from my core, I wanted to see him. Dolph created feeling inside me that I didn’t even know I was capable of feeling. A tinge of shame burned my cheeks, a man I don’t even know should not have this effect on me.

Finally, I heard the door to my bedroom open. It was him, standing before me in his suit and tie. He looked exhausted yet he smiled.

“How are you feeling?”

I wasted no time, I want sure how long I couldn’t handle being near him.

“I want to know about her…my wolf”

Dolph looked stunned, but he held his composure well.

“Okay, what do you want to know.”

“What happens when I transition…will it hurt?”

“A little the first time. Most transition around their 18th birthday. The first transition is intense because it’s when your wolf takes over for the first time. Most of the times, cubs have their parents with them when the transition for the first time…”

“Oh…”

“You’ll have me…”

My body responded to his response.

“Do I have superpowers?”

Dolph laughed, for the first time in my presence.

“Super powers? Kinda I guess. Your stronger, faster, heal much quicker, and obviously the wolf part. You can mindlink as well, but only with your mate.”

“What’s that?”

“Mindlink? Well, it’s like talking… but in your mind.” Dolph tapped his temple and winked.

“No, mate.”

The mood changed drastically as Dolph stiffened.

“A mate is who your destined to be with. Your wolf chooses your mate. Once you find your mate, you consummate the bond and it’s forever. You become one.”

“Oh…” I was quiet as I absorbed all this information.

“What does yours look like?” I whispered.

“My wolf?” Dolph questioned.

I nodded.

“Come with me tomorrow. We’ll go down to the falls and I’ll show you.”

“Is it scary?”

Dolph’s face softened.

“Sofia, I would never do anything to hurt you.”

I believed him. As I tucked myself into bed that night I could hardly fall asleep. Tomorrow I would see Dolph’s wolf. That sounded so insane. His wolf.
