Chapter 25The key still fit in the lock. Felicity marvelled at how easily the door swung open. The smells from her past welcomed her inside. A mix of cleaning detergent since the laundry room was right to her left, and then of dirt and mildew from the flood that happened three years back. Her mother was never one for cleaning, especially rooms that constantly got dirty, and that wasn’t for entertaining people. The kitchen and the front hallway were always the worst in any place they ever lived since they were always waylaid with stains and sometimes an invasion of bugs.
