Chapter 26It was dark again, but the darkness had a softer edge to it. Felicity looked to her right, saw blackness, and then to her left. The glimmer of the triangle was visible. It was almost right above her, as if the light looked down and shone only for her. The light illuminated a garden. Dozens and dozens of black flowers were in front of her, beside her, around her. Their stamens stretched up tall towards the light of the triangle, the light of the castle. They were glowing under its radiance; they were growing and extending far around the outside perimeter of the garden. She was right outside the castle’s doors, most likely right above the dungeons. The flowers were a border between that world and the castle walls itself. “Can I come inside?” she asked. She stayed where she stood.
