Let Us Be Friends

“Poor girl...” Dugo Zugath, who was angry at Samantha before, now felt pity towards her. His hair had already stopped fluttering and his strange energy had long been calmed down. Seeing her memories, he'd come to know her. Who would have thought that this girl would have such a miserable past? No wonder she was acting that way. Now he realized what was the reasons. Thinking more about it, Dugo Zugath could only close his eyes. After a moment, he opened his eyes again and stared at Samantha who was still screaming. And seeing her in that state, Dugo Zugath sighed deeply as he finally retracted the strand of his hair connected to her. This strand of hair served as a string to manipulate her mind. Without it, he wouldn't be able to do anything against her. As such, when he finally retracted the strand of his hair, Samantha finally stopped screaming. Her eyes had immediately widened in realization as she found herself being drenched in cold sweats. She hurriedly got up and turned to look at Dugo who was just in front of her. “You!!! What have you done to me?!” Samantha who still had her knees on the ground bellowed furiously as she ground her teeth afterward. She wanted to go and attack the other party but her second thought was preventing her to do any violent actions. Thus, she could only clench her fists as she glared at Dugo fiercely. Samantha couldn't maintain her calmness anymore. How could she do it if she had just suffered from that kind of illusion? She never thought that this boy in front of her was so much capable as he could overpower her through Mental Energy and illusions. “Who the hell are you?!” In the end, Samantha could only ask in coldness. The aura she released became more hostile as her eyes became fiercer. It was as if she was ready to retaliate at any moment. But instead of a reply, what she received was the other party's hand. She saw Dugo reaching his right hand towards her indicating that he wanted to help her up. Samantha was a bit surprised. But of course, she didn't grab his hand as she only stared at the other party warily to see what kind of plot he was up to this time. She knew well how dangerous the person before her was. She couldn't be so careless and trust him right away. Besides, she didn't need anyone to help her up. So why would she need his helping hand? “Let's be friends.” Dugo Zugath suddenly said calmly. He looked into her eyes, not batting an eyelid. Samantha on the other hand finally became agitated. Her heart was beating wildly not knowing why. What the other party had said really shocked her. After all, those were the words that no one had ever told her before. And those were also the words she longed to hear. But she couldn't understand why would the other party said such words to her even though they were in conflict a moment ago. Samantha then turned to look into Dugo's eyes. But seeing that he had no ulterior motives, only honesty, she became even more confused. Just what in the world this guy was up to? “Why?” In the end, Samantha could only ask. She didn't blink as she stared at Dugo's eye intently. “You are not a monster. You are just in the wrong place.” Dugo Zugath replied calmly. And when Samantha heard his reply, her eyes couldn't help but constrict. Shortly after, she found her eyes becoming watery as tears had finally fallen from the edge of her eyes. That was something she longed to hear the most. Someone who would see her as a person and not as a monster. That was the only wish she had. Someone who would see her true self and accept who she really was. Samantha couldn't hold her tears as they kept falling to her cheeks. Finally, someone came to save her from her suffering. And finally, someone came to offer her a friendship. Samantha rubbed her eyes with both of her hands and wiped away her tears. But the tears just kept falling. Even so, she removed her hands from her eyes as she asked, “C-can I really be your friend?” Dugo Zugath smiled. Knowing well the other party's suffering, he replied, “Of course.” Dugo Zugath didn't expect that in the end, he would wish to be friends with her. But since there was an urge in his heart telling him to do so, he came to ask her. He wasn't sure if he was doing it out of pity or sympathy, but one thing was for sure was that he knew that this girl desperately needed light and a way out of that darkness. If he could be that light and that way, then he was fine by it. After all, this girl wasn't just an ordinary individual. If she could be his companion, then it would also turn to be better for him. Dugo knew well that having strong and trustworthy companions could be of great benefit even at the worst times. If he could get the trust of this girl, then how great would it be, right? Hearing him, Samantha on the other hand shifted her gaze at the right hand of Dugo. She took a few moments of pause before she finally stretched her right hand to grab his hand. After which, she pulled his hand as she stood up from the ground. “A-alright. I will trust you... D-dugo.” Samantha responded as she stared at Dugo with an embarrassed expression. When her face went red, she quickly averted her gaze downward. But at that moment, there was a warm sensation filling Samantha's heart. She didn't know what was that feeling but she felt great pleasure and delight. There was even an urge in her to hug the other party but she only held back that feeling for she felt as well that it was a bit too inappropriate.
