That Girl Was She

1084 Words
Monster! Monster! Monster! Samantha heard the voices of the people around calling the crimson hair girl in front of her. Dread and fear were naturally blended in their voices. It could be said that those people wanted to stay away from her as far away as possible. But the crimson hair girl on the other hand appeared to be not offended by their words. And in fact, it also appeared that she even felt that their voices were as if music to the ears. She maintained the smile on her lips whenever she heard their terrified voices. But deep within her heart, only she knew well about the loneliness she was suffering from. The loneliness and pain she hid behind the smile she'd shown before the crowds and the strength she displayed towards them. No one could understand her. For no one was able to reach her and come closer. No one was strong enough to stand on the same ground as her that she could consider a friend and someone who she could talk with about something intimate. Everyone else was afraid of talking to her or being with her. No one among her peers could speak a word without stuttering. Not to mention her status in the Palace, her strength alone was more than enough for others to put themselves away from her or put her on a higher level. They would always be respectful and would always bow down whenever they talk. Even if they smiled at her, it always seemed forced and fake. She could see their eyes filled with terror whenever she was around them. So how could she talk with them and consider them as friends? How could she share her feelings with anyone else if they were all acting like that? She wished to be a friend with at least one person in the world but no one could ever reach the heights she had come so far. They were all incompetent and couldn't be considered worthy of her attention. Being a genius was surely problematic. As such, she was forced to be alone. Something that she had become accustomed to. She kept her smile despite what might others see her and she took the path that very few had taken. The path where only strong people and those with guts would be able to take. But in the place where she stay, no one was like her. No one was as good as her. No one among her peers could take the path she had taken. Although few people could be of equal to her in terms of strength, their age was actually far apart compared to her Samantha didn't know why but this information suddenly entered her mind. She had come to know the young girl standing not far away from her. Not only that, but it appeared as well that her heart was aching, sympathizing with the other party. As if what happened to that young girl also happened to her in the past. Just who in the world was this girl? Why was she seeing her that way? Samantha was puzzled as she couldn't get what was going on. And when she saw the other party directly staring at her, Samantha's heart suddenly beat wildly. She then saw the other party walking in her direction as her heart only beat faster. Could it be that this girl could see her now? Samantha felt that it was highly likely. As such, Samantha only stood there and waited to see if this crimson hair girl would really come to her. But from the looks of it, seeing the other party already standing before her, it was evident that she really came for her. But why? Samantha wanted to talk with her as she sympathized with her but she found that she wasn't able to talk. She wanted to open her mouth but it just didn't want to open. Surprisingly, not only her mouth, but she found that she couldn't move her body anymore according to her will. Helpless, she then focused her attention on the young girl in front of her. She then saw the other party muttering something. But she couldn't get to understand what she was saying. The other party right now had a different expression. The smile on her lips wasn't there anymore. It was replaced by sadness and loneliness and longing to be with someone of her age. Couldn't understand the other party's talking, Samantha focused her hearing towards her. Little by little, the voice was getting louder. And it had gotten more audible. Until finally, the other party's voice became loud and clear. “Monster,” The crimson hair girl in front of Samantha said. Her voiced contained fear, her eyes looked at her in terror. Samantha's eyes suddenly constricted. When the word “monster” was said directly to her. She became agitated. Her heart became uneasy. And her eyes only became wider when pieces of memories entered her mind. Suddenly, the surroundings changed again. It was a plain and wide surrounding where the ground was as red as blood. There was a bloody moon where the only one that gave light was the moon. And the surroundings were covered with a crimson hue. Samantha turned her gaze and there she saw a woman standing not far away from her. But blood was dripping from the edge of her eyes as it appeared that her eyes weren't there anymore. And when she took a clearer look at her. Her heart suddenly skipped a beat. She found her heart beating wildly again. “M-mother?” Samantha muttered in a low voice. She recognized this woman well because she was the only person in the world that she missed so much. After all, no matter what she did, she would never be able to be with her anymore. A sense of longing finally entered her heart. However, when she recalled something and looked at her so-called mother again, she couldn't help but take a step back as she put her hands on her mouth. Her eyes then became watery as she said in a stuttered voice, “I... I... I-m... s-so-sorry...” Now that she recalled everything about the woman before her, she could only feel nothing but guilt. Only then did she realize everything. The woman before her was no other than the crimson hair woman from before who was killed by her own child. And that child was she.
