Giving Up The Portia

“Hold on. You two are joking, right?” Suddenly, the woman's voice sounded. She was coming to the dining table bringing a bowl of rice soup. Just as she arrived, she put it on the table in front of Dugo Zugath.

“We are serious here, big sister.” The kid replied with an excited smile. It was as if he was itching to go to the Purple Mist Forest already.

However, his smile suddenly froze when he felt the atmosphere around him seem to go cold. He involuntary shifted his gaze at his big sister as he found her fierce eyes turning even more dangerous. And he couldn't help but shrink his head down.

“So, are you implying that you wanted to escape again?” The woman asked coldly. Her eyes descended on her little brother. But after a moment, her expressions seemed to calm down as she turned sad and said in a low voice, “It seems like you really don't care about me anymore. You aren't even asking for my consent.”

“No, big sister. You've got it wrong.” The kid turned anxious slightly as he continued, “You know that I am doing this for you, right?”

“There is only one Portia in a hundred years. What are you going to do once the two of you find it?” Taking a spoon of rice soup, the woman asked solemnly.

“That...” The kid was lost for words. He just realized what was the problem here as he didn't know what to say. She was right, there was only one Portia in every century. Thinking about it, he subconsciously shifted his gaze at Dugo as he said in his mind, “We can't possibly divide it, right?”

Dugo Zugath seemed to understand the situation. It appeared that this kid before him was also looking for the Portia. For what reasons might it be, it was probably connected to the woman before him.

On the other hand, seeing the situation seemed to go somber, the woman chuckled softly as she said, “Don't worry about me, kiddo. This is the fate of a Forsaken One and I am used to it. So, just let it be and let our friend here use it for himself. Just promise me to always be careful and come back alive.”

“Yes,” The woman smiled.

But thinking about it now, Dugo Zugath suddenly realize something as he asked, “Then, he is looking for the Portia in the hope to cure you?”

“He keeps insisting that it can cure me so, Yes.” The woman chuckled softly as she replied.

Dugo Zugath suddenly began chuckling too. He shook his head and responded a moment later, “ I thought I am the only one insane in the world who would think that Portia can cure the Forsaken Ones.”

“Haha, so you were also looking for it to cure yourself? Now, you find that you are not the only one who would use Portia in that way.” The woman replied as she chuckled. She also thought that the idea of her little brother using Portia to cure her was really crazy. Not to mention whether it would really work, just thinking about the difficulty of finding it was already enough for her to dismiss the idea.

With that in mind, the woman continued with a sweet smile, “He really is determined to find it. He even said that he will never die until he finds it.”

“What are you talking about, big sister?” The kid suddenly interrupted as he refuted his big sister with a reddened face. He never expected that she would actually reveal what he told her in the letter when he left without speaking a word.

“Isn't that true? I still have the letter with me, do you want me to read it again for you to remember it?” The woman responded as she smiled at him with an evil smile.

“What? Just burn that useless thing already.” The kid retorted, his expressions were gleaming in annoyance and embarrassment.

Dugo Zugath on the other hand smiled slightly when he saw the two of them. This guy was actually willing to risk his life just to cure his big sister? No wonder he had a strong will to live when he found him dying before. It appeared that his reason to live was not for himself, but for someone else.

And this kind of character was what Dugo Zugath like the most. In this world where most people were only thinking for their own well-being, it was extremely rare to find someone like him.

It seemed like he really had made the right choice making him his companion. Dugo Zugath suddenly thought about it. After a moment, he opened his mouth suddenly and said, “Alright, let's do it that way.”

The kid and the woman suddenly shifted their gazes at Dugo as they were bewildered at what he was talking about. Shortly after, the kid let out a smile as he asked, “What do you mean, brother?”

Dugo Zugath let out a mysterious smile as he took another spoon of rice soup. After which, he stared at the woman as he replied, “Let's find the Portia for her.”

“Huh?” The kid tilted his head doubting if he was just hearing things.

“You heard it right. We're going to find the Portia for her.” Dugo Zugath replied patiently as he took another spoon of rice soup.

“You are joking, right?” The kid asked. Naturally, he was joyful and excited to hear such words from him, however, he suppressed his emotions afraid that too much expectation might disappoint him in the end.

“I'm not,” Dugo Zugath replied with a slight smile as he went on, “Besides, you've already said that I have this strange energy. So I have no reason to take the Portia for me anymore. Let's just give it to her as repayment for taking care of me here in the past few days.”

Although he was not that certain about the existence of that black energy, Dugo Zugath considered the possibility of its existence. However, it was not only for that reason that he was willing to give up the legendary flower. If he didn't feel that there was an unfamiliar change in his body, he wouldn't even dare think about giving up the flower. After all, it was his only hope to become stronger and come to save his big brother Gulang.
