Kalayaan Village

“Brother must be joking. We are only doing this to return the favor to you since you saved my life back then. Compared to that, this little hospitality is nothing.” Hearing Dugo Zugath's reasons, the kid answered him with a bitter smile. To think that he would give up the opportunity of taking the legendary flower just because they took care of him. This guy had really a good heart. It really wasn't a mistake befriending him. “Stop calling me brother. My name is Dugo Zugath.” Dugo Zugath suddenly said with a slight smile. “Oh, right!” The kid slapped his head as he seemed to remember something. How could he forget introducing themselves? Thinking about it, he continued with an embarrassed smile, “We also forgot to introduce ourselves. My name is Sael Anselmo and she is Elissa Ashton.” “Ashton...” Dugo Zugath muttered in a low voice as he seemed to recall something. But the memory was so foggy that he couldn't know what it was. So failing to remember it, Dugo Zugath ignored it as he took another spoon of rice soup and asked, “By the way, where are we?” “Oh, we are in the Kalayaan village,” Sael Anselmo answered with a bright smile. “What? Kalayaan village?!” Dugo Zugath was taken aback as he suddenly felt a chill. Knowing full well that kind of village, he couldn't help but swallow a mouthful of saliva and said, “The one that is the closest to the Purple Mist Forest... As well as the most dangerous village in the kingdom?” “Yes, you've said it right.” Sael Anselmo responded leisurely finishing his rice soup with a gulp. “How can you live in here?” Dugo Zugath asked seriously. He stared at the two of them as if trying to peer through their soul. Dugo Zugath naturally knew how dangerous the Kalayaan village was. No, almost all the people in the kingdom especially those who were interested in the Portia flower knew about it. After all, it was the place where many infamous groups and strong families gathers. They made this place their safe haven since it was the closest to the Purple Mist Forest. To whether it really was a safe haven, only your strength could tell. Because there were no rules in this place to follow. Everyone was free to do their things in the street under the broad daylight or in the dark alley. They could gamble, trade stolen goods, sell slaves, rare treasures, or even forbidden weapons and drugs. It was no different than the black market. Anyone could do anything as they please as long as they had the strength to back it up. If they wanted to, they could even kill in the broad daylight and no one would even bother about it other than the relative or companions of the victim. The Supreme Government would always overlook the matter. This place was the place for ruffians so how could these two be living here? That was what Dugo Zugath couldn't understand. Even he himself wouldn't even dare enter this place and they had the courage to live in here? Just what it was that gave them the guts? And that wasn't all. What was even surprising was that they could live peacefully in here. No one was even knocking on the door to cause trouble. He couldn't even hear any noise outside the house as if they were in the remote place where there was only a single house amidst the forest. He couldn't help but doubt if they were really in the Kalayaan village. “For some reason, we can live a carefree life here.” Sael Anselmo replied with a mysterious smile as he didn't bother explaining anything else. “Oh? Carefree life... huh,” Dugo Zugath didn't know what else to say. If they were really in the Kalayaan village, he was just hoping that what the other party had said was true. That they could live a carefree life in here as this place wouldn't put his life in danger. So taking the last spoon of rice soup, Dugo Zugath put the spoon down on the bowl as he said, “Thanks for the food... Eli... big sister Elissa.” Dugo Zugath was about to call her by name when he thought how disrespectful it was to someone who took care of him and gave him food. As such, he also called her big sister. And also, as a fellow Forsaken One, Dugo Zugath felt that she deserve more than being called a big sister. She should also be treated as one. Thus, Dugo Zugath set in his heart that this woman before him would also be his big sister. Hearing Dugo Zugath, Elissa chuckled softly and said, “You two will be a good friend.” After which, she stood up from her seat and picked Dugo Zugath's bowl. Since Sael Anselmo was already finished eating long before Dugo Zugath was done, she also picked his bowl. After that, she went to the kitchen to wash the dishes. Dugo Zugath and Sael Anselmo watched the back of their big sister for a moment before they stared at each other. Having the same thought, the two of them asked at the same time, “So, what's the plan?” Hearing that they asked the same questions simultaneously, they couldn't help but laugh with each other. Dugo Zugath didn't notice it but for the first time in a long time, it was only at that moment did he laugh again. He felt the warm sensation in his heart when he was with his family before. Something that was taken away from him at such a young age. Elissa Ashton on the other hand saw the kids getting well together as she couldn't help but smile. It was also then did she see her little brother again having that kind of smile. In her heart, she was glad that Dugo Zugath came into their life.
