Demon

“A demon?” Dugo Zugath muttered in his heart when he heard the human saying such a word. Was that creature, a demon? That purplish skin... That tail... That suppressive evil aura... Now that Dugo Zugath thought about it, it really was highly likely. That creature really resembled what the rumors say about the demon. Was that thing really a demon? Dugo Zugath found it hard to believe what he had just seen. Even if that creature was really a demon, what was that thing doing here? He found it unbelievable that such a dangerous creature was causing such a scene in this area. Just what the hell was going on now? “Damn feet. Hurry up and run.” Dugo Zugath couldn't care less about whatever the reason why that demon was around. He ground his teeth as he cursed his own body for not obeying him. He knew full well that if he didn't make a move now, he would surely put his life in danger. He might really die this time if this went on. Thud! As Dugo Zugath was struggling in his hardest, he saw the body of the human held by the creature that appeared to be a demon being thrown down by it. He also saw the demon raising its hand in front of its chest as it opened and closed its hand thrice seemingly trying to test its strength. “...” The demon, that had a nonchalant expression, suddenly frowned as it could be seen dissatisfaction engraved in its eyes. Thirst and bloodlust exuded out from it as it was apparent that it was itching to find more prey. And to Dugo's horror, he found the demon turning its gaze in his direction. His face that was already pale long ago, had turned even paler right now. Was this demon planning to do something to him? “Please don't look over here...” Dugo Zugath muttered inwardly as he begged the demon. Just how could he be found so easily? At that moment, Dugo Zugath felt the impending death coming nearer and nearer. Was this really the end of him? He didn't even find a single trace of the Portia and something like this would happen? What was even worst was that he had just started his journey and had just entered the Purple Mist Forest. Was the world really in a rush to claim his life? If he knew beforehand that a demon was waiting for him in that place, he wouldn't have gone there and run in the other direction instead the moment he heard the explosion a while ago. Just how could he be so careless and confident with his tracking and anti-tracking skill? This was really frustrating and regrettable no matter how he thought about it. On the other hand, the moment the demon shifted its gaze in Dugo Zugath's direction, the frown on its face suddenly disappeared. There was a few moments of pause before its lips formed a slight smile as it finally turned its body afterward. Naturally, it had found Dugo Zugath and was intending to do something. After a moment, the demon finally took a step forward. The slight smile on its face had disappeared as it was replaced by an impassive expression. Its dark purple eyes emitted a cold glint as it walked unhurriedly towards its next target. Hopefully, this human could fill its stomach at least somehow. Tap! Tap! Tap! Every single step that the demon took was as if taking the remaining lifetime of Dugo who was about to pass out due to the intense fear he currently felt. Seeing the demon walking in his direction, he only had one thought in mind. “This is really the end...” This intense fear... Dugo Zugath only felt it at that time. And he didn't remember anyone or any event in his past causing him such feeling. And that only made him believe even more that he was now going to die for real. Thud. At last, the thing that Dugo Zugath was wishing to not happen, finally occurred. The demon reached its distance in front of Dugo who was kneeling behind a certain tree. It stared at Dugo as if looking at an ant that weighed no value. “M-mercy...” Dugo Zugath muttered in a low and stuttered voice. He couldn't even turn his head upwards to see the face of the demon that was about to harm him. To put it more correctly, he had no strength and courage to do so. “A Forsaken One...” Amidst Dugo's fear, he suddenly heard the demon saying such words. He didn't expect that a demon could actually speak human language. But that was not surprised him the most. Did this demon just say "Forsaken One?” Was it referring to him? Although his body was still trembling and his fear didn't subside a bit, Dugo Zugath slowly turned his gaze upwards out of curiosity. But at that moment, he suddenly found a slight ray of hope. Dugo Zugath who could still use his mind despite his current situation didn't wait another moment as he opened his mouth and said, “Yes, I am just a lowly Forsaken One. You will not gain anything from me even if you eat me. So... C-can you please let me go, s-sir demon?” But as if the demon didn't hear Dugo Zugath at all, it only stared at him nonchalantly causing him to fall speechless. He was even doubting if the other party could understand what he had just said. At that moment, Dugo Zugath didn't know what to do. He was afraid that if he said too much babbling, he might piss off the other party and incur its wrath. He might only hasten his death if he took a wrong move. So having thought about it, Dugo remained silent as he stared at the demon with begging and fearful eyes. Although he knew clearly that a demon wouldn't hesitate to claim one's life as it didn't feel any mercy, at that moment, he had no other option left as he was forced to resort to such action. He knew well that he was far weaker compared to the other party as he didn't have the strength to protect himself. “Damn it! If only I am strong enough...” Dugo Zugath cursed in his heart blaming his own weakness.
