The Spirits Of The Forests

“That demon... I really didn't expect for it to appear in there...” Sael Anselmo muttered, his eyes were still containing the hint of dread. “I also didn't expect that a demon would suddenly appear in there,” Dugo Zugath said with a grim expression. Thankfully, that demon let him go. Not only that, but it also gave him a parting gift. And it was actually the direction to find the Portia. Right! Dugo Zugath suddenly recalled something as he said to Sael, “Speaking of which, that demon has left some words to me. Do you think it's reliable?” “What is it?” Sael Anselmo asked as he stared at him with interest. “That demon said before it left, ‘The Portia is in the middle of the forest. The guide is the wisps’.” “The guide is the wisps?” Suddenly, the eyes of Sael Anselmo constricted. He repeated those words as if he'd just figured out something. Thus, to make sure that he heard it correctly, he asked Dugo seriously, “Are you sure you heard it right?” “I'm sure I am not mistaken,” Dugo Zugath answered as he added, “Why?” “It can't be... This is more difficult than I thought.” Instead of answering him, Sael Anselmo shifted his gaze to somewhere else as he pondered deeply. Dugo Zugath on the other hand didn't interrupt him as he only watched him and waited for him to reply. He could see that the other party had figured out something from the words that the demon had left. “The wisps...” Sael Anselmo muttered as if he was talking to himself. After a moment, he continued mumbling, “It probably symbolizes the spirits of the forest. And the spirits of the forest are definitely hard to deal with. It is difficult to know whether they will be a friend or a foe. Most of them had even caused many disasters to the people venturing the forest in the past.” “Are they really that toublesome?” Dugo Zugath reacted as he asked, “Is it hard to find the spirits?” “They really are a troublesome bunch. But no, it's not that hard to meet with them. However, it's risky.” Sael Anselmo answered as he added seriously, “The spirits always love to play. Once you meet them, they won't let you go unless you satisfy them and follow their desires. Of course, if you satisfy them, you will gain some rewards from them. However, if not, it may lead to death.” “Oh? That's interesting...” Dugo Zugath responded as he asked, “Then what desires these spirits were asking for?” “It depends on them,” Sael Anselmo replied as he continued, “Some spirits ask for hidden things. Some ask for killing a certain beast. And some asks for killing your companions.” “Killing a companion?” Dugo Zugath was taken aback when he heard such an answer as his expressions went grim. These spirits were surely insane. How could they ask something as cruel as that? “That's why it's hard to deal with them,” Sael Anselmo sighed. “Then why don't we catch the spirits instead?” Dugo Zugath suddenly thought of an idea. “That's not possible. Not to mention they are intangible, just being with their presence alone can give a feeling of wanting to kneel. They give off an unfathomable and suppressive aura that no one has yet to withstand. That was why, even if many people had already intended to go against the spirits of the forest in the past, once the spirits unleashed their suppressive aura, everyone could only kneel and bow down. Those who had a weaker fighting spirit even died miserably.” “Then these spirits are simply bloodthirsty maniacs...” Dugo Zugath remarked. He never thought that these spirits were really that hard to deal with. “Since that demon from before said that the wisps are the guide to find the Portia, it can be said that we should satisfy the spirits and meet their desires in order to find the Portia flower.” Sael Anselmo pondered for a moment before he said. If what the demon had said was reliable, then they should really please the spirits this time. “This is really troublesome...” Dugo Zugath muttered in a low voice as he contemplated deeply. It was still fine if the spirits made other requests but what if it ask for killing a friend? That was what Dugo Zugath worried about the most. Killing a friend? He would never do something as evil as that! “So, should we still go there together?” Sael Anselmo stared at Dugo intently as he asked. He naturally knew what the other party was thinking about. If by chance the spirits asked for killing the companions, it would be a disaster for them. Dugo Zugath contemplated for a while before finally, a slight smile appeared on his lips and replied, “Naturally, we'll stick to the plan. We'll go together.” Sael Anselmo was taken aback by Dugo Zugath's response. But seeing that he might have some plan in mind, Sael also smiled slightly as he replied, “Alright, we'll go together then.” Since he also thought that Dugo wasn't an ordinary individual, he naturally would follow the other party's opinion. He didn't ask what the other party was thinking as he thought that he might have some reliable plan in mind. If however, the other party wanted to reveal it, then so be it. That was also fine for him. “We'll go and catch the spirit together.” However, contrary to Sael's expectation, what he heard next made him wonder if he heard it right. What was this guy talking about now? Catch the spirits? Didn't he tell him already that they were intangible? Not only that, but they also had a very strong suppressive aura that made anyone fall on their knees. How could they possibly catch them? Probably, he was just hearing things... “And after we catch them, we will beat them senseless and ask the way to find the Portia.” And contrary to Sael's expectation again, he heard another word from Dugo Zugath. And he couldn't help but think to cut open his head if there really was a brain inside. This guy was really thinking of catching the spirits? Not only that, he even thought of beating them senseless. No matter how he thought about it, he could only think that this guy had finally turned insane.
