Begging For Mercy

Heavenly Tavern. It didn't take long for them to reach the front of the tallest building they were heading to. There was an eye-catching huge words, “Heavenly Tavern”, placed somewhere above the entrance. But when they were about to enter the building, one of the two guards guarding the entrance suddenly blocked their way as he said impassively, “If you didn't have the token, you need to pay for the entrance.” “Entrance fee?” Dugo Zugath suddenly asked with a slight frown on his face. But since he already believed that Samantha wasn't as poor as them, he heaved a sigh of relief inwardly. That said, he went to ask nonchalantly, “How much do you need?” The guard blocking their way was taken aback by his response. It was normal for people to ask for the price of the entrance fee but to ask it so nonchalantly by a kid? It couldn't be that these ordinary-looking kids were actually that rich, right? The guard then turned to look at the other guard beside him. And seeing him nod, he then turned to look at Dugo again as he replied, “1,000 silvers.” It was now Dugo's turn to be taken aback. 1,000 silvers? This was clearly a scam! How could they ask for such a large sum just for the entrance fee? However, although he was surprised by the price, he didn't show it on his face as he maintained a nonchalant expression. And also, since Samantha was now with them, these 1,000 silvers wouldn't be a problem, right? “We don't have any money.” But contrary to his expectation, what Dugo heard next caused him to involuntarily shift his gaze to Samantha, doubting if he heard it right. “Did you just say that we don't have any money?” Dugo then asked. His gaze contained a hope that he heard it wrong. “Yes,” Samantha asked with a smile that as if nothing was wrong. “Ah...” Dugo Zugath didn't know what to say this time. Just why the hell did this girl bring them here anyway? Was she looking for trouble? “Scram,” Suddenly, a cold voice sounded. Dugo shifted his gaze from the source of the voice as there he saw the guard blocking their way looking at them coldly. It was as if he was going to eat them at any moment. Dugo Zugath then turned exceedingly serious. Seeing the other party, he could tell that he was about to attack them at any moment. If he really harmed them in any way, Dugo naturally wouldn't just sit idly. “This brat... What are you looking at? Hurry up and scram!” The guard blocking their way was annoyed when he saw Dugo looking at him with that expression. However, when he was about to do something to help them scram, a small and fast object flung on him. Swoosh! The guard didn't react on time as the fast object went directly on his face and hit him on his forehead. His head then tilted back from the force as the fast object bounced from his head and went towards the other guard standing by his side. Naturally, that guard had caught that small object as he instinctively looked at it. But when he did, his heart immediately skipped a beat. “How dare you!” The other guard who was hit by that object roared furiously. His veins popped out on his head and on his hands that were now clenching into a fist. It was apparent that he was about to attack them this time. Sapak! However, before he could do anything, the guard beside him slapped the back of his head. So hard that he found himself bowing down. He wanted to lift his head to see who the hell had hit him but he found his head being held down by the guard beside him who was also bowing down. “What the f*ck are you doing?!” The guard then asked furiously as he tilted his head towards the other party. His eyes went red as he clenched his teeth tightly. If this guy kept treating him like that, then he would surely attack him. But that thought had immediately dispersed when the other guard raised his hand with a token in it. The other guard was also annoyed as he said, “Ask it to yourself, what the f*ck are you doing?” That token was naturally the fast object that hit the other guard. Only when he caught it and see clearly what was that object did he realize how important of a guest were these kids before them. So when the other guard saw the token, his heart skipped a beat as his eyes had immediately widened in shock. So, with a stuttering and low voice, he said, “O-old Beggar's E-emblem? One of the VIP tokens? Why is it here?” “It seems like not only your reflexes, even your brain is pretty slow too.” Suddenly, a voice of a young girl sounded. It came in front of them as they could tell that it came from the crimson hair girl from before. “I'm sorry young miss for failing to recognize you! You must know as well that we are just doing our job.” The guard who was holding down the head of the other guard responded quickly. A hint of respect and fear were blended in his voice. “Y-yes! We bow for our deepest apologies.” The other guard quickly added. He naturally knew who to offend and who to not offend. And these kids belonged to the second group. “Whatever. I'm in a good mood today so just hurry up and open up our way.” Samantha replied with a wide and mischievous smile. If this was before, she would at least collect one of their fingers. But since she felt pretty good this time, she let them slide. But when the two guards lifted their heads to see her expression, what they saw was a monster smiling at them. They took her smile as a threat as they immediately broke in cold sweats and felt a chill sensation running down their spine. As such, they hurriedly kneeled with their forehead on the ground before they pleaded simultaneously, “Young miss, we're wrong. We beg for your mercy!”
