12 Firian The encounter with Belik left Firian breathless with anger. As though anything could be the same! But Belik had insisted on talking to him as he always had, the careful, ruthless advisor. Firian didn’t think that Belik’s keeping him alive was much of a mercy, but his old Master clearly thought it was. Firian hadn’t lied or exaggerated when he said he would kill him. He would find a way to do it, if Belik didn’t give up trying to convince him and killed him first. Time stretched on. The stink in the dungeon from emptying his stomach earlier only intensified.
