CHAPTER ONE
Ruined by My Sister's Husband
The penthouse was too quiet.
Avery stood barefoot on the cool marble kitchen floor, a half-glass of water in her hand and the only light coming from the under-cabinet strips. Upstairs, her sister Claire was already asleep, two sleeping pills and a long day of meetings having taken their toll before ten, but Dominic was still awake.
She could hear the clink of ice against crystal from the living room. He always had one drink after Claire went to sleep, and he always looked so composed, so controlled, so goddamn polite about it.
Avery told herself she should return to the guest room. She told herself a lot of things as she set the glass down and walked towards the living room.
Dominic was sitting in the dark armchair by the window, the city lights picking out one side of his face. He was forty-four, broad-shouldered in a black dress shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbows, the top two buttons undone. In his hand was a tumbler of something amber, and he didn't seem surprised to see her.
He looked like he'd been waiting.
"Couldn't sleep?" His voice was low, rough with the whiskey.
“Claire’s out cold,” Avery said. She hated how small it sounded.
Dominic's eyes moved over her appreciatively. She was wearing one of Claire's old silk robes, the belt loose, showing off her mid-thigh. She hadn't put anything on underneath and the air-conditioning made her n*****s pucker against the soft fabric, which he could see.
He set the glass down with a soft clink on the side table.
"Come here."
Avery's heart pounded in her chest. She should have turned around right then and gone upstairs and locked the door to the guest room, but her feet moved and suddenly she was standing in front of his chair, close enough to smell the whiskey and his cologne.
Dominic leaned forward and his hands settled on her bare thighs, just under the silk. His palms were warm and rough as they skimmed up her legs and he didn't pinch or tweak, just hold her there with his thumbs brushing over the soft skin at the tops of her thighs.
"You've been walking around this place like you want to get caught," he said quietly. "Wearing her clothes and looking at me when you think I'm not watching."
Avery's breath caught in her throat. "I wasn't—"
"Stop lying to me." His thumbs slid higher, peeling the silk up. "Not tonight."
The robe opened and cool air kissed her bare p***y. She was already wet, had been ever since she heard the clink of ice against glass and Dominic's voice, and she knew he could see it.
He set his glass down again with a slow sigh, and the next thing she knew, his hand was sliding between her legs. One finger dragged slowly through her folds and he was teasing her, taking his sweet time before he did it again and she nearly fainted with the feel of him. He brought his fingertips to his mouth and she watched, wide-eyed, as he tasted her.
Something in Dominic snapped. All the restraint left his face and he stood up, pushing her around so she was bent over the arm of the chair. Her silk robe was pushed up her back and one thick hand was pressing against her lower back as the other went to work on his belt. She heard the zipper and then the weight of his c**k against her ass.
"Dominic—"
"Quiet." The word was all command. "Claire's upstairs and you make a sound louder than a breath and I stop. Understand?"
She nodded her head against the leather padding.
Dominic rubbed his c**k over her folds, coating himself in her arousal before he pushed inside her. Not slowly, not gently, and one long, brutal stroke of his hips had her mouth open in a silent gasp. He was thick, so much thicker than she'd ever imagined in the nights she tried not to think about him, and her p***y clamped down on him in protest.
Dominic groaned. "Jesus Christ, you're soaked."
He pulled back and pushed in again and deeper, the chair groaning beneath him. His hips snapped against her ass in a steady rhythm of punishment and he kept one hand on her lower back, keeping her in place as the other went around and rubbed tight circles over her c**t in time with his strokes.
Avery bit into the leather of the chair to keep from crying out as her toes curled against the carpet. She was so close to coming, it was ridiculous, and the pressure built fast and vicious at the base of her spine. She was going to come on her sister's husband's c**k and there wasn't anything she could do to stop it.
Dominic saw it and covered her mouth with his palm. "Come. Now. Silently."
Her body seized up and she screamed silently into his hand, her thighs shaking around his c**k as her p***y fluttered and clamped down on him in spasms. He kept thrusting through it, chasing his own release, until he buried himself to the hilt inside her and came with a low, guttural sound, pulsing hot and deep in her core.
For a long moment the only sound was their breathing.
He didn't move right away and she felt the warm trickle of his c*m slide down her inner thigh. Dominic fixed his pants and pulled the robe back down over her hips before turning her around to face him. He looked unreadable, his eyes almost black.
"Go upstairs," he told her quietly. “Wash up. Get in bed.”
Avery's legs were shaking. She took one step towards the hallway.
"Avery," he said.
She turned back to look at him.
Dominic picked up his whiskey and was cool as ice, save for the slight color high on his cheekbones. "Tomorrow night, Claire has a late dinner with investors. She won't be home until after midnight."
He took a slow sip, eyes locked onto hers.
"Be in my bed by ten. Naked. Legs open. I want to take my time with you when I don't have to keep you quiet."
The glass clinked as he set it down again.
"And Avery, if you try to leave the city before then... I'll find you. And I won't be careful next time either."
