Chapter Eight During the times when Philip wasn’t away, Harriet had the opportunity to begin to get to know him. Laura made a point of inviting Harriet back after tennis or swimming when Philip was there. They would share a drink together and socialise and then Philip would excuse himself and let the two girls talk, whilst he went and did some work in his office. Harriet quickly built up a picture of Philip in her mind and her observations coincided with what Laura told her about him.
