PROLOGUE
They always looked at me like I didn’t belong. And maybe I didn’t, at least, not in the way they feared.
“What the hell are you doing there, Omega?”
The voice cut through me like a blade, dripping with disgust. I whirled around, my heart already knowing who I’d find. Calista.
The Alpha’s precious daughter. Her emerald eyes blazed with such hatred it nearly stole my breath away.
She looked at me like something foul beneath her designer boots. And why wouldn’t she? In their eyes, that’s exactly what I was.
Weak. Omega. Burden. Mistake.
Words they’d branded into my soul since childhood.
But they didn’t know the blood that ran through my veins. I was born in the dead of winter, during the longest night of the year.
My mother bled out under a sky streaked with falling stars, and my father, once a mighty Alpha, held me only long enough to whisper a name before he vanished into exile.
Selena, he had named me. Moonchild. Bearer of a divine curse. A daughter born to rule, but destined to suffer first.
The Beta he trusted turned traitor. Our pack burned for it. Our legacy crumbled into ash. And I was smuggled away, hidden among strangers who stripped me of my name and gave me another: omega.
I learned early that silence was survival. That lowered eyes and bowed heads kept you safe. But inside, something never stopped screaming.
A pull beneath my skin. A whisper in my dreams. A presence watching me in the moonlight, whispering in a language I didn’t understand.
The Bloodfang Pack was never my home. I wasn’t born to serve, I was born to command and to rise. The omega mask they forced upon me was nothing but a cruel disguise for what pulsed beneath: a true Alpha’s heart.
On the night of my twenty-first birthday, the bond snapped into place like lightning through my bones.
His name echoed through my soul like a curse, Kieran McCain. Alpha of the Bloodfang Pack. The one who carried my family’s ruin in his claws.
The Moon Goddess has a twisted sense of humor. My fated mate was the descendant of my family’s murderers. When our eyes locked across the ceremonial hall, his piercing blue gaze flayed me open before hardening with revulsion.
He called me unworthy. Spat that the Goddess had made a mistake.
With a cruel smile curling his lips, he pulled a purebred Beta to his side and declared her his chosen Luna. I stood frozen, humiliated, my heart still thumping in sync with his.
His rejection should have destroyed me. Instead, it shattered the chains I didn’t even know I wore.
The bond didn’t break. It changed.
Something inside me woke up that night - ancient, furious, and divine. A second wolf. A forgotten bloodline.
Nyx.
She wasn’t born from love. She was born from vengeance.
My scent changed. My aura turned feral. The Moon Goddess no longer whispered—she roared. And suddenly, the Alpha who cast me aside writhed in pain from the very bond he scorned. But I wasn’t his to claim anymore.
Let him mourn the Luna who died in her sleep. Let his pack crumble beneath the weight of his regret. He chose pride over destiny.
And now? A darker Alpha has returned. One who doesn’t flinch at the sight of my power. One who doesn’t want to tame me, only to stand beside me as I burn everything that tried to break me.
The Moon Goddess never wanted me to be someone’s mate.
She made me to be their reckoning.
