CHAPTER 13
The next morning, Les headed for town. He stopped off and purchased a horse trailer and an outfit for Jimmy. Les didn’t know what size shoes Jimmy took, but He picked up a pair which looked about right. Anything was better than what he had been wearing. Les drove on to the Hillard dairy farm. When he arrived, they were finishing up with milking, so he went inside and there he found Jed getting ready to leave. He filled him in on everything happening about Jimmy.
“I didn’t know Alec had a son. I think someone mentioned something about him being married, but nothing else,” said Jed.
“They didn’t know. Evidently, this Peggy Mays took back her maiden name and even called Jimmy, Mays instead of Hayes. She didn’t let anyone in the family know about Jimmy. The poor kid thought
