Where The Hell Am I?
It was dark when she opened her deep green eyes. She couldn't remember exactly when she had gone to sleep. Clutching the side of her pounding, groggy head, she tried to remember the night before. As she slowly regained her senses, she realized that she was naked, and alone. She was in a strange room, and in a strange house.
She panicked as her eyes began to desperately search the big, beautifully decorated room that she had mysteriously found herself in, as she tried to regain her bearings. 'Where in the hell am I?' She wondered to herself. She tried to stand up, but she quickly realized that she had been chained by the ankle to the bed by a fairly long piece of chain. It was heavy and it was padlocked into place!
"OH MY GOD!" Della cried as her eyes caught sight of her battered reflection in the mirror that was placed on the wall across the room. She froze as she looked at herself in horror. Her olive skin was battered and bruised and her long, honey blonde hair was matted and dirty. "How?" She asked herself out loud as she struggled to remember. "Think!" she told herself as she closed her eyes tightly to try to focus, but no matter what, nothing was coming to her.
She started to cry as she suddenly heard a noise. There were voices coming from what seemed like downstairs. She now knew that she must be on the upper level of the mansion. She tried to hold her breath. She wasn't sure that she wanted to draw attention to herself at the moment, so she sat there frozen in place, trying to swallow her tears and sobs as the voices grew closer.
She could now hear foot steps and other voices. Two, maybe three people. More talking...a little laughing...one male for sure, and at least one female. They were right outside! She could hear the male voice say, "I have to feed my kitten, I'll catch up to you in a minute." The female voice replied "Don't be silly, I'll wait for you. When did you ever get a kitten anyways, I thought you hated cats?" The male voice then told the woman not to worry and to go ahead. She finally agreed and she left reluctantly. She could still be heard giggling as she walked away.
Silence..."Where did he go??" She whispered to herself out loud, as she desperately tried to stay calm. Just then she heard the doorknob start to turn. She held her breath again and she froze in place once more, as she sat in the middle of the huge bed and she clutched the silk bedding to her naked body for dear life. Della had never been so scared and confused in her whole damn life. How could she be so damn stupid? How could she let this happen to herself? She had been raised better than that. She cursed herself silently as she held her breath some more and she waited for the door to open.
The door slowly opened and a man appeared in the doorway. It was dark in the room, so because of the lights that were on in the hallway behind him, he looked HUGE, and extremely sinister. He was tall, and as wide as the side of an old red barn. Not fat, but HUGE in every other way. His hair was as black as night. It was very curly and it was long. Really long. It flowed from the top of his large, round head and around his wide face and down his back to his waistline. It was sleek and soft. It was well kept, and he had a matching goat tee that was just as meticulously groomed.
He had thick black eyelashes and large, raven colored eyes that felt like they were piercing Della all the way to her very soul. He was well dressed in a dark blue taylored suit and polished alligator skin shoes that Della was sure were quite expensive. He wore a lot of jewelry, as well. Big, flashy jewelry, from his neck to the tips of his flashy shoes.
"Della, you're awake," he said those words more softly and with more sweetness than she had ever heard a man's voice have in her whole life. She was caught completely off guard. Then a big, perfect white smile came across his perfectly shaped lips. She had to admit that he was quite beautiful, even though she was actually scared shitless at the moment.
Della was completely stunned. I mean...what the Hell?? She all of a sudden realized that her anger had somehow faded into an odd curiosity...she snapped herself out of it and quickly summoned all of her anger again. "Who in the hell are you?" She asked as confidently as she could muster at the moment. She was not about to appear weak. "AND WHERE THE HELL AM I?!!" She shrieked as loudly as possible, in hopes that it would alert the the woman that she had heard in the hallway earlier to her situation. She knew that it was risky, but she had to try.
When the big man heard her scream his eyes got wide and he quickly shut the door. "Shhh....they'll hear you, Kitten." He said as he rushed over to the side of the bed. "I HOPE SO!" Della screeched again. "BE QUIET." The man warned her through his teeth in a low growl. He was losing his patience quickly, and he wasn't very good at hiding it.
"Tell me who you are right now!" Della demanded again in a slightly lower voice. The man relaxed a little for a moment. "Where am I? Who the hell are you? What do you want? Where are my clothes? Why am I naked? Why is my skin bruised and my hair matted and why am I chained to this bed?" Della shrieked all these questions at him in one breath as she started to become hysterical.
The unnamed man's body language was changing, it was clear that he was getting angry. He stood tall and he said, "Listen..." but Della was freaking all the way out at this point and she began to squeal and struggle and fight her chains. She grabbed the chain around her ankle and began to violently snatch it against the part of the bed where it was attached.
The mystery man rushed over to calm her, but before he knew it, she had pounced on his back! Her naked limbs were flailing as she was violently boxing his ears while shouting, "Let me GO! You better let me go NOW! Do you know who my daddy is? Do you know what you've DONE??!!!"
The large mans patients had finally run all of the way out. He stood straight up all of a sudden and he roared like and ogre while flexing both of his stout arms, throwing the crazed Della back on to the bed. "LISTEN!" He roared loudly, as if he no longer cared who heard him. He looked a little like a wild animal at this point. His eyes were huge and his nostrils were flaired.
"I'll never listen to YOU!" Della spat back at him as lightning flashed across her young and pretty eyes. She tried to look as indignant as possible. She pinched her face and turned her nose up. "Fine, Della have it your way. You can stew in it for now. I'll come again later to see if you're ready to listen." He said as he turned to leave. "Never!" Della cried to the door as it was pulled shut behind him. "I'll never be ready." She quietly vowed.
"Damn you Della you dumb ass," she muttered to herself as she started to sob. Suddenly she got the idea to scream. Scream as loud as she could and pray that someone else would hear her...so she did. She pulled so much air into her lungs that she thought that she might actually explode...and she screamed. "HHEELLLLPPPP MMMEEEEEE! HHEELLLLLPPPPP MMEEEEE! PPLLEEEASSSEEE! SSOMMEEBBOODDDYYYYY PPLLEEEASSSEEE!!" She screamed and screamed until she felt something pop in her throat and she could no longer make a sound. Still...nobody came.
Just as she was sinking deep into desperation and she had began to silently sob again, and then the door opened once more. The big, nameless man stepped inside and laughed at her mockingly, "are you done yet?" He sneered at her. Had he been out there the whole time? She wondered in disbelief. It seemed that his personality had flipped. As beautiful and sweet as he was earlier...he was twice as ugly and evil right now. 'Who is this man?' She silently thought to herself, as she sat motionless on the bed, still clinging the expensive silk sheets to her sore naked body.
He moved closer to her. That made her want to flinch, but she dared not move. He lowered his eyes to hers and quietly said, "scream all you like. This room is completely soundproof, and we are completely alone." With that he smiled a perfect and evil smile, "Rest a while and I'll be back to help you get cleaned up." He said as he turned to leave. "We have a big night ahead of us tonight Kitten, so sleep well," he said as he left and closed the door, leaving Della alone again and wide eyed in the bed.
Della didn't know what to do or how to feel. She tried to remember again what had happened the night before, but her head was still pounding and everything was still fuzzy. She fell over in the bed with a sobbing plop and she slept. There was nothing else she could do at the moment and her head was killing her.
She had no idea what anything that man had just said even meant. She did know for sure that he would be very sorry when her Daddy caught up to him. Very sorry. He did not know who he was messing with. That made Della smile a bit as she was losing touch with reality to sleep. She just needed to sleep.
Della was sleeping uneasily when she heard someone coming in the door. She slowly opened her eyes to see a sweet looking maid with a light smile on her face. "Miss, it's time to get ready for the party," the maid said as she lifted the covers and wrapped Della in an angora robe. 'Party?' Della was groggy and confused for a minute. She sat up slowly and realized that the chain had been removed from her ankle and taken away.
She sat there for a moment in a daze as she tried to put it all together in her head again. "Miss, can you speak to me?" The seemingly sweet maid asked. Della opened her mouth to speak, but she couldn't, so she touched her throat and shook her head no slowly. It felt like a fire had been set inside her throat and it hurt to even try to speak.
"Oh dear!" The maid exclaimed "I'll go get the doctor immediately and let Mister know!" She ran from the room in a hurry. "Mister will be SO upset if Miss can't go to the engagement party!" She exclaimed as she was rushing down the hall towards the doctors quarters.
Engagement party?? Suddenly she realized that tonight WAS her engagement party, but she was NOT engaged to this man, a man who's name she didn't even know. Looking at her ring finger she noticed that this is also NOT the ring that her man, Caine Sweetwater had given her a month ago that night at the fair by the beach side.
She remembered it vividly now. The cool breeze was blowing on their faces as the ferris wheel stopped them at the very top. Della caught her breath a little when the seat swung in the wind and Caine instantly wrapped his arms around her to make her feel safe. He always made her feel safe. He was always so patient and kind to her. She remembered that she really loved him.
She also remembered that she was supposed to be with him right now. She was instantly angry again at the thought of Caine's hurt feelings.. "Oohhh you just wait until my Daddy finds you." Della hissed in a very hoarse voice to the empty room. "He's gonna kill you all."
Just then, she realized that she was free from her chains and that she had been left all alone. "Now is my chance," she said out loud to herself in a raspy voice. Wearing nothing but the luxurious angora robe that the maid had wrapped her in, she quietly pushed the door open and looked around in complete amazement.
This was no mansion at all....it was a castle! She looked around again as she tried to make her way to the top of the most grand staircase that she had ever seen. It was extra wide and the floor was made of grey polished granite. The hand rails were carved into a heard of wild horses that seemed to be running wildly down the stairs.
She suddenly heard his voice behind her. "Oh good Della you're up. The maid said that you weren't feeling well. How are you darling Kitten of mine?" There it was again, that syrupy sweet side. Della stopped for a moment to notice a pleasant looking older man along with the maid from earlier, and two very young ones following behind her captor. They all had worried looks on their faces.
"Hello Della, I'm Dr. Stone. May I please have a look at your throat?" The kindly doctor asked as he held his open arms out for Della to be recieved. Della was hesitant at first, but in the end she agreed. "Good girl.," the doctor said with a smile. He was dressed very neatly and was very distinguished looking, yet he was extremely kind. Della obediently followed the doctor to a fancy chair in the hallway and sat down. She opened her mouth for the doctor and sat still while he examined her throat with a flashlight and flat wooden stick.
When the doctor was finished he furrowed his brow and asked to speak with the big man alone. He agreed and the two men stepped off into the room that Della had just come out of. After a few minutes the door opened again, and the two men came back. "Della the doctor says that you have minor injuries to your vocal cords. He needs to spray your throat with some antibiotic spray," the big man politely explained.
"But your voice should return soon on it's own if you try not to use it and keep using this spray," the doctor chimed in. "So you should be fine to attend the party tonight. Just try not to strain your voice if you can," the man said. He followed up with, "Take the spray and go get ready, kitten," as he turned to leave, signaling everyone else to go about their day, and they did so quickly. Everyone scrambled this way and that, trying to get out of his way. 'Wow...' thought Della as she watched the scene in front of her unfold.
Della was pissed. She wanted her man and she wanted answers, and she wanted them NOW. She opened her mouth to say something and instead she got a cold blast of minty spray down her throat from the doctor. It tasted fine but her whole throat, tounge and lips were on fire at first. She twisted her face at the pain. "Don't worry, it will pass quickly," the doctor said as she felt a cool numbness move across her throat. She tried to speak but no sound came out. She wanted to run and fight but she had no idea who or what she was up against and thought it would be best of she was compliant, at least for the moment.
The older maid opened the bedroom door and held it for the two young maids. After they entered the head maid looked up and motioned for Della to come on in, as well. Della stood in place for a moment, unsure of what to do. The older maid smiled and said, "come along Miss, I heard your Daddy is coming tonight Don't you want to look pretty for him?"
Her Daddy?? Della was both shocked and delighted to hear that. She couldn't wait to tell him everything. She hoped that they didn't see it coming, either. She was almost giddy at the thought of what her father was going to do to them all. She quickly made her way to the bedroom and allowed the maids to fuss over her.
In the study the phone rang as Mister sat quietly behind his desk. His large study was more simply decorated than the rest of the castle, although it was still beautiful. He never cared much for frill and clutter, except for his clothes and jewelry, of course, he was a straight to business kind of man.
He picked up the phone and said, "Hello?" In a bored and disinterested kind of way. "Is she there?" the voice on the other end of the line asked him anxiously. "Yes sir, she's here." Mister replied. "Is she ok? Was she hurt? She didn't struggle to much did she?" The voice asked, sounding a bit distressed. "She's ok. She almost woke up on the way over. She got scared and kept trying to run, so we gave her another shot. She woke up again after we arrived here and had a violent reaction and fell down the stairs before my men could restrain her." Mister told him, as though he was talking about a stray dog.
"WHAT?!" the voice on the phone roared into instant beratement of Mister, but Mister cut him off. "She's alright sir." Mister said louder than the man on the phone. He stopped talking istantly, so Mister continued. "We gave her another shot to calm her down and I had the maids undress her so that she would be to uncomfortable to run, in case she woke up again." Mister told the man on the phone. He didn't dare tell him about the chain he had put on her, as to not further anger the man who was paying for it all.
"I can not believe you would this s**t to her! You promised that she would be kept safe and happy. If you can't fulfill your promises, I might just change my mind." The man on the phone stormed. "I'll be there on time. Don't make any more mistakes Mister....or you will be sorry," and with that, the line went dead. The man had hung up. Mister looked at the phone and slowly set it back on the desk as a sly ass smile crept across his face. This was going to be perfect. He felt it in his bones.
......
Robert D'Rose' was getting out of his limo and headed inside of his mansion, when he heard a man's voice calling his name. Robert stopped in his tracks and rolled his eyes before turning around to see Caine Sweetwater running towards him. "Excuse me, Mr. D'Rose' but have you seen Della today? I know that you are aware of the fact that tonight is our engagement party, which I hope that you will attend, but I can't find her anywhere." Caine asks politely as he approaches the already irritated Robert.
"No, sorry buddy. I haven't seen her since last night when you two left the ballroom together. Don't you know where she is Caine?" Robert was not about to give anything away. Caine looked confused. "Sir, I didn't take her home last night. I had a problem at my bar and I left early. She said that she would ride with you." Caine told him.
"So you're telling me that you left my daughter unattended at a party where there was alchohol, to go handle the losers and flunkies at that dive you call a club?" Robert sneered. Caine remained unbothered. He already knew that Robert and Joy hated him and wanted Della to leave him. No surprises there.
"Sir, Della is a very capable girl. She doesn't want, or need me to babysit her like a child. Anyways, I would love to keep chatting with you, but right now, I need to find Della." Caine told him sincerely. "Well if she's so capable and doesn't need a babysitter, then where is she? Could she even find her own way home?" Robert spat at Caine. "Sir, could you please help me find her?" Caine asked him in as polite of a tone as he could manage at the moment.
Robert sighed dramatically and said, "I suppose," in a drab manner. "Go get ready for your party. I'll try to reach her and her mother. They are probably just out shopping for the event still." Robert told Caine, but he knew they weren't shopping. His wife Joy hated Caine and had refused to help with the wedding or participate in any way, so she definitely would not be out shopping for the wedding. In fact, she had taken a vacation this weekend just to avoid the engagement party all together.
Caine thanked Robert and asked him to contact him immediately if he heard anything. Robert said that he would, but in his heart Robert knew that Caine would be celebrating alone tonight. That thought put a smile on his face as he entered the house.
Caine left with an uneasy feeling. He knew that Della was not shopping with her mother, and he felt that Robert was most definitely hiding something. He was not going to leave it alone that easily. Besides, how could he celebrate their engagement without her? No. He needed to know where Della was right now. He knew in the deepest part of his heart that Della would never stand him up for this. Never. She would never hurt him that way.
Caine returned to his nightclub with a troubled look on his face. All of the workers were still busy preparing for the party, but everything was almost in place, everything but Della...where in the hell was Della? He was finding it harder and harder to contain his emotions.
Caine walked past the main bar where his brother Josh was helping to stock before he went to change his clothes for the party. Josh looked up and said, "Hey numb nuts where's your bride?" With a mischievous smile on his face. Caine just shook his head and kept on walking towards his office, which was on the third floor. Josh got the hint and hurried to follow his brother. He knew something was very wrong by the look on his face.
......
The excitement in the air at the castle among the house staff could be cut with a knife. Everyone was hustling and hurrying to finish the preparations for the biggest party of the season, while happily chatting between themselves.
"It's amazing how fast Mister proposed to Miss, where did she even come from?" Said one young maid to the next, as they set the huge table in the grand ballroom together for two hundred or so royal, rich, famous, and important people. "I think it's a power marriage between the families. I heard she's the daughter of a high ranking mob boss," said the second maid. "Really?" Said the first maid, "I heard that her father was a high ranking politician."
"That will be enough gossiping from you two," a voice said from behind them. The two young maids already knew who the voice belonged to before they even saw her face, so they both winced and turned around slowly. They were both embarrassed to see the head maid standing before them in a very threatening manner. "Unless you two would like to take it up with Mister?" She offered.
"We are so sorry ma'am. We were completely out of place. It won't happen again," they promised her as they shook their heads in unison. "Then go finish preparing Miss before I decide to go get him for you!" The head maid dismissed the two young maids with the pointing of her finger in the direction of the door. The two maids made haste and left immediately.
"Stupid girl. You have no idea of what you are getting yourself into. If you marry Mister, your life as you know it will be over." The head maid muttered to herself as she got busy setting the table. "Everything will change for you, little girl." She mumbled to herself in irritation.
In the bedroom of the castle, Della had finished showering and having her hair and make up done, when the two young maids knocked on the door. Della couldn't tell them to enter so she nodded at the make up artist in the direction of the door, with a sad look on her face. She missed Caine. She was sure that he was going out of his mind looking for her by now. All she wanted was to be curled up and carefree in his arms again. She couldn't wait for her father to arrive. She would make them all sorry when he did.
Della stepped her long legs into a very elegant ball gown. It was heavy, cobalt blue, and it was long and flowy, with an off the shoulder corset type top. It was sexy and elegant all at the same time. It was also completely encrusted with fine crystals, so it shimmered like a starry night when she moved in it.
One of the maids stepped forward to zip the dress. She did so and then stepped back, as the second maid came forward and placed the biggest and most beautiful diamond necklace and tiara Della had ever seen in her life, on her head and neck. They finished it off with matching earrings and bracelets. Della couldn't help but notice that all of the jewelry matched her new found engagement ring. It was all quite impressive. She did indeed look like royalty, but she just couldn't stop the sad look in her eyes from tainting the overall beauty in her reflection.
