Alyssa was forced into marriage with the alpha of the most popular pack, because her father hated her and wanted to get rid of her. It was against her wish because of the rumors she had been hearing about the alpha, but nobody cared. They got married in front of everyone the next two days. They had their wedding night, which resulted in pregnancy.

Seeing how ruthless the alpha was, she knew that she couldn't possibly let anyone else know of her pregnancy. So, she ran away, but got saved by a lycan king, getting into a bigger trouble.

Alyssa enjoyed her morning walks. Especially through the woods. It was like a devotion for her. Every morning after breakfast, she walked through the woods and came back feeling happy and relieved. Usually her mother will be by the entrance waiting to scold her for going off too long, her mother usually had a soft loving expression on her face as she did that. But today, as Alyssa skipped happily onto the threshold to find her mom wearing a solemn face, she knew something was wrong. The atmosphere was heavy and everyone seemed to be down. Her mother pulled her into a hug, and she wasn't scolding her, which was very odd. Instead, she kissed the top of her head and whispered, "Let's go in, your father has something to discuss with you." Alyssa's heart skipped a beat. Her father rarely interacted with her, and when he did, it was over something very serious. If he needed her to do something, he made her mother tell her. She had long since come to terms with the fact that he never wanted her, she was just another liability. Her father's sole attention was her brother, who was a year younger than her and was to be the heir. With heavy steps, Alyssa followed her mother into the house, to where her father always sat dealing with some paperwork she knew nothing about. When they entered, Alyssa's mother tightened her grip on her daughter's hand. "Where were you?" He asked gruffly, not bothering to glance up from what he was focused on. "I took a walk," Alyssa replied quietly. He never knew it was a habit of hers. He never cared, and she doubted he would begin to care even if he knew. So, why was he suddenly interested in what she was up to? "Another silly habit your mother let you cultivate," He finally shifted his gaze, but not to Alyssa. He glared at her mother as if to blame her for bringing Alyssa into the world. The older woman looked down still, clinging to Alyssa's palm. "But that will have to stop soon," he said. Alyssa frowned, he was clearly implying something, and it was difficult to follow. "Come," her father beckoned, and then, he turned to his wife, saying, "You leave us." Alyssa's mother hesitated but deciding it was best not to go against him, she squeezed her palm one last time and left. Alyssa wanted to plead with her not to leave. This was all strange. Her father never wanted to see her, he never wanted to interact with her, so what was all this? She took reluctant steps until she was standing right beside him. "Now, unlike your brother, I don't expect you to understand the whole concept of alliances, but I believe you're familiar with the name Alpha Killian. The alpha of the greenwood pack." He paused to look into her face and see if there was any recognition. Of course, Alyssa knew Alpha Killian, everyone did. He was brutal and known for being merciless. He killed anyone who talked back at him. He tortured rogues who dared to trespass on his territory. His name evoked fear and every pack knew never to start a war with him, everyone wanted to be on his good side. But why was he asking her? As far as she knew, this was one of the conversations he only had with her brother. Alyssa merely nodded, eager to know where this was going. "We have decided to build an alliance with the greenwood pack that will benefit us immensely. You know what it is like to be on Alpha Killian's good side. The pack have come to the conclusion that the best way for that is through marriage," he said. Alyssa began to shake her head even before he completed his sentence. She had a gut feeling about where this was going. Panic was already building in her. Don't say it. Don't say it. She internally pleaded with her father. "You'll be the bride to the Alpha of the Greenwood pack," he announced, grabbing a paper and resumed working like he hadn't just ruined her life. "We have sent a message to the Alpha, the wedding date will be set in no time. You can leave." Her father waved his hands in dismissal. Alyssa was rooted to her spot. Her father wanted to put her on a suicide mission. No, a murder mission because this wasn't what she would ever be in her right mind sign up for. Alpha Killian will kill her. She was sure. "What have you done to him? This isn't just for alliance, you've done something you know he won't forgive you for so you're sending me over to appease him!" Alyssa didn't know where the courage came from. Maybe it was the fear and panic. Maybe it was the thought of death that hung over her head. Alyssa's father briefly stared at her, his eyes piercing and then finally he smiled, a small smile that was almost unnoticeable. "Not as dull as I assumed you to be. Now be smart also and prevent an impending do on this pack." "No! You're sending me to my death. He will kill me! Especially if he knows I'm your daughter. He will send my slit head to you. You're literally making me die in your place!" Alyssa was yelling at this stage. She hated the thought of marrying Killian but, above all, she hated this man called her father. He was eerily calm at her outburst. "Hopefully not," he said. "Leave, or I'll slit it before Killian gets to." Alyssa balled her fist. A single tear trickled down her cheeks. She couldn't move. She knew her father never saw her more than a burden but she never knew he would willingly put her in danger. Alyssa was sure she would have done something to her father's aging face, perhaps punch him if her mother hadn't reappeared at that moment. She peeked her head meekly and quietly dragged Alyssa out of the room. Once they were outside, she pulled her into a hug. "I can't do this! He's going to kill me! Haven't you heard the stories, mother?" Alyssa cried as her mother rocked her gently. "Mother, stop him please!" When her mother said nothing, Alyssa made up her mind. She was going to run, to where God knows when, but she wasn't about to be the sacrificial lamb for the entire pack. She understood her mother, no one in the pack went against her father. So wiping the tears, she pulled away from the hug and offered to be alone. Her mother sympathetically nodded. Alyssa walked to her room but her plan to be alone failed because her brother, Fred, sat on the only available sofa waiting for her. "Should I challenge my father? Perhaps in a duel, if all goes well, I could even kill him and be the alpha. That way, my only sister won't be sent to the altar of a ruthless man," Fred said immediately as she came in, his face filled with worry. That brought a smile to Alyssa's face. No matter how much love their father had showered on Fred, it never broke the sibling bond they shared. He felt her pain and always tried to soften their father's harshness towards her. "You shouldn't be planning the death of your dear father," Alyssa said, falling face first on her bed. Ferd shrugged, he sat beside her and held her hand. "Do you really want to do this?" No. "Yes," Alyssa lied firmly. Knowing how immature and reckless her brother could be, he would really try to challenge their father if she showed any distress about the wedding. 'Yes. But tonight I'll be a missing bride. Tonight I'm escaping', Alyssa thought.
