“I love you,” he said when she finally met his eyes. “And I’m sorry. Nothing like that will ever happen again, I promise. You mean too much to me to risk something stupid like that coming between us. Okay?” Lori nodded solemnly, her eyes still dark. Jason would have to work hard today to bring the spark back into those beautiful blue eyes. He wanted to put this incident behind them as quickly as possible. Jason suspected he would feel the guilt for a very long time, though. “Am I forgiven?” he asked gently. “Yes,” she answered in a hoarse voice, her eyes dropping. Praying she had truly accepted his apology, Jason squeezed her tightly in his arms.
