XVI - Friends Jason called her twice every day that week, as concerned with her mental well being as her safety. Lori appeared to be handling the situation, though. She had recovered quickly from the attack in the school bathroom as well. Jason wondered if it were genuine forgiveness or Lori simply burying her feelings. Again, he regretted the distance between them. One day they would be together and he could protect and care for her properly. Lori did not see James for several days. He was not in a class they shared on Monday, and at Wednesday’s lecture, he sat on the far side of the room. Despite his actions, Lori felt terrible about the beating he had received from Jason.
