THE HEARTBREAK
“I thought he was going to propose to you,” Tina said, her lips curving into a faint smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. “With the way he calls you my love, my heart, my life… I was already jealous.”
Camelia laughed softly, hugging a pillow to her chest. “Noah promised he would propose after he gets a job. He’s not like that. I trust him.”
“Aww…” Nina teased, tossing her hair back dramatically. “Look at you, oppressing us with love. Don’t worry, I’ll find my own Noah someday.”
“You deserve even better,” Camelia said warmly.
“I’ll go get drinks so we can celebrate our graduation till morning,” Nina announced, grabbing her bag. “Camelia, come with me.”
“I’ll stay back and prepare the dishes,” Tina added quickly.
“Okay, we’ll be back,” Camelia said, smiling as she followed Nina out.
The moment the door shut, Tina’s smile disappeared.
Her expression turned cold.
She picked up her phone and dialed a number she knew by heart.
“Hello…” a deep male voice answered.
Tina rolled her eyes. “Why haven’t you broken up with her yet? I’m tired of this game.”
“You know I need to collect the money from her first,” the man replied calmly. “Or do you want us to suffer together? We’ll use it to build our future.”
Tina scoffed. “You’re so annoying. When should I come over? I need something to clear my head.”
A low chuckle came from the other end. “Anytime, baby. I’m waiting for you.”
“I’ll be there soon,” she said before ending the call.
Her lips curled into a satisfied smile.
On the way back from the bar
“Don’t you think you’re doing too much for Noah?” Nina asked, glancing at Camelia. “You’re literally doing everything for him.”
Camelia smiled softly, holding the drinks close. “I just feel like he needs me right now. When he starts earning, he’ll take care of me.”
Nina sighed. “Just be careful… don’t let him hurt you.”
Camelia smiled, unaware of the hidden meaning behind those words
Back at Home
They stepped inside.
Camelia looked around. “Where’s Tina? We left her here…”
Nina shrugged. “Maybe she went to see that ‘secret boyfriend’ she always talks about.”
Camelia laughed lightly. “That girl…”
“Well, since we’re alone…” Nina lifted a bottle. “Let’s drink till we can’t walk!”
“Cheers to graduation,” Camelia said.
“Cheers to a new life,” Nina added.
Their glasses clinked.
Camelia had no idea that her “new life” was about to begin in the worst way possible.
Alexander Estate
“Instead of letting me introduce you to a decent girl, you’re busy chasing that Emily,” Grandma Katherine snapped. “She’s a gold digger.”
Alexander sighed. “Grandma, she’s not like that. I’ve been pretending to be poor just to test her… and she stayed. She loves me for me.”
“And that’s why you’re proposing?” she asked sharply.
“Yes. Tonight, I’ll reveal who I really am… the heir to the Thompson empire.”
Grandma Katherine’s expression softened slightly. “I just don’t want you to get hurt.”
“I won’t,” Alexander said firmly.
“Go,” she waved him off. “I’m rooting for you.”
Camelia’s Place – Later
“Let’s go!” Nina called. “You don’t want to be late for your three-year anniversary.”
“Tina said there’s a surprise waiting…” Nina added, eyeing Camelia. “And you’re still here doing makeup like a bride.”
Camelia smiled shyly, adjusting her shoes. “I just want to look beautiful for him.”
Noah’s Place
The moment Camelia stepped in, her breath caught.
The place was beautifully decorated—flowers everywhere, balloons floating, teddy bears arranged neatly.
Blue and white.
Not her favorite color… but still beautiful.
Her heart swelled.
“Noah…” she whispered as she walked toward him.
He turned, smiling. “You’re here.”
“You didn’t have to do all this,” she said softly. “You could have saved the money.”
“I wanted to surprise you,” he replied. “And trust me… you’ll love it.”
“I trust you,” she said, smiling.
They took their seats.
Then the announcement came.
“Today’s hosts are… Camelia Sanchez, Noah Richard… and Tina Smith.”
Nina frowned. Three hosts?
Something felt… off.
Noah stepped forward.
“First, I want to thank everyone for coming,” he began. “And secondly, I want to thank my girlfriend, Camelia, for everything she has done for me.”
Camelia’s cheeks flushed.
“I promise I’ll repay your kindness when I become rich.”
The crowd cheered.
Nina leaned closer, whispering, “He really loves you…”
Camelia smiled, her heart full.
“That’s why,” Noah continued, “I’m proposing tonight.”
Camelia’s breath hitched.
This was it.
Finally.
He got down on one knee.
Her heart raced.
Her hands trembled as she stretched them forward
Alongside Tina.
Camelia blinked.
Confused.
“…Will you marry me…” Noah paused.
Then turned.
“…Tina?”
Silence.
The world stopped.
“I love you. I can’t live without you,” he finished.
“Yes!” Tina squealed. “I’ll marry you!”
The ring slid onto her finger.
And just like that
Camelia’s world shattered.
“No…” she whispered.
Noah stood, turning to her casually. “Camelia, I did like you. But after meeting Tina, I fell in love with her. We’ve been dating secretly.”
Her ears rang.
“I’ll repay all the money you spent on me,” he added coldly.
Nina shook her head. “This has to be a joke…”
Camelia stepped forward, her voice breaking. “How could you do this to me? I gave you everything… I took loans for you… I trusted you…”
“I said I’ll pay you back,” Noah snapped. “Stop acting like this.”
Tears streamed down her face as she turned to Tina. “You… I trusted you like a sister…”
“I’m sorry,” Tina said without remorse. “I love him too. I couldn’t tell you.”
Then she dropped the final blow.
“I’m pregnant. Two weeks.”
Camelia froze.
Her vision blurred.
Her heart… stopped.
The room spun violently.
And then
Darkness.
Her body collapsed, hitting the floor.
Her head struck hard, blood slowly forming at her forehead.
Gasps filled the hall.
But Noah and Tina?
They didn’t even look back.
Hand in hand, smiling, they walked away
Leaving Camelia broken, bleeding, and alone.
