The next day, I got ready for work, while dressing up, all I could think of was Draven. “Thank God Enzo was so engrossed in the movie” I thought to myself. If he had noticed my squirming or seen me tightening my legs to ease pressure, I wouldn't have heard the last of it.
Luckily, he left earlier since he had a patient.
The dream last night didn't even help. I only met the man once and I dreamt of him touching me. I started to recall the events of the dream,
“Are you always this wet, Reyna?, or is it just the thought of me that has you creaming your panties hmmm? All I did was moan as he slid two inside me as he rubbed himself against my ass and all I could do was moan mindlessly.”
I snapped out of it, “s**t I'm going to be late for work again. This time, Mr Johnson will torment the hell out of me and the CEO is coming in today. Jesus” I huffed “get it together Reyna” I scolded myself.
I got to work a few minutes late as expected, the entire office was busy. Indeed the CEO was coming in today. I took the elevator up to my departed floor, made a run to my cubicle to avoid Mr Johnson sighting me since he was busy sorting papers.
“It's so nice of you to join us,” Karen said sarcastically. I grunted, “I'm not in the mood Karen, had a rough morning.” “well you better get your reports ready and updated, make sure it's corresponding and no mistakes. At least…,” pointing to Mr Johnson's direction, “he won't accuse you of twisting his pants when it's his incompetence that's twisting it.” She said, I snickered, well good thing I'm always doing those.
I rechecked every data and files I had worked on. Everything was perfect down to the dots. I put them together numerically.
Just as I finished double-checking my reports, I heard a commotion near the elevator. The CEO, Dras Oasis, had arrived. I couldn't help but sneak a glance as he stepped out of the elevator, surrounded by two assistants. I couldn't see what he looked like… I sighed, “all these ruckus for a human.” Karen rolled her eyes.
I was about to comment when Madison, our colleague, but she worked as the HR Department walked in. “ Karen, you won't believe it” I rolled my eyes. “What is it that I won't believe?” Karen asked her, clearly interested. “God took his time to sculpt that man. He is gorgeous.” She said, fanning herself with her hands. “I wouldn't mind being his side piece if he's got a wife.”
This time, I scolded “Madison, would you stop?. You can't be serious.”
“I'm as serious as I can get” she responded. I shook my head in disappointment. Madison is always like this. She flirts and sometimes ends up sleeping with new department heads or co- workers she finds attractive, damning the consequences.
She moved closer to Karen’s cubicle and whispered something to her, which made Karen screech in horror, getting everyone's attention.
“I’m sorry guys, it was a mistake…” She apologised. Hannah, Mr Johnson’s assistant, gave her the stink eye “ you're lucky he is not on the seat. If not, you'd explain the reason for gossip during working hours.”
“I'm sorry again,” Karen said. “Madison, I'm not interested please just leave my office for now before you get me in trouble.
As soon as Madison left, there was a ping in everyone's computer indicating a general message.
I opened the mailbox, “ There will be a meeting in 15 minutes with each department individually, starting with the HR department and data analysis last .” Venue: conference room.
Everyone started murmuring, just then, Mr Johnson came in, sweating buckets “I'm sure everyone got the message. So get it together and make sure everything is in order.” He looked around “You,” he pointed at me, “you'll give the presentation.”
Everyone including me gasped “Sir, I'm only a junior here, I've never given a presentation.”
“I don't care what you do or how you do it, you'll give the presentation and you'll impress him.”
I was in trouble again and this time it might cost my job. I started to prepare. I had at least one hour before our department went into the den. I gathered every document I could get my hands on and sat in my cubicle.
“Goodluck girl. Hopefully you don't get fired too. I heard he just fired over 15 employees now over incompetence and inability to answer his questions.” Karen told me.
I glared at her “ Karen are you for me or against me? Telling me this only makes me nervous.”
Sighing, I looked at Mr Johnson’s through his glass doors, the bloody man was busy pressing his phone and smiling.
I went back to studying the documents, and analyzing every data I came across till it was time.
We made our way to the conference room. I could feel the lub dub sound my heart made.
On getting to the room, Mr Johnson came close to me and whispered “ don't mess this up Sartori, else I will be firing you myself.” I gulped then nodded at him.
My eyes scanned the floor, and for a brief moment, before looking to see a pair of familiar blue eyes staring directly at me. I felt a jolt of electricity run through my body, I was shocked. “Draven was Dras oasis.” s**t!! I couldn't believe my eyes.
I stood frozen staring at him. Karen came to me, “ you're not immune to this one, get it together” she whisper scolded.
I quickly looked away, clearing my throat, trying to compose myself.
“Mr De Santis, I'm Richard Johnson, head of the department. It's a pleasure to meet you” he said with beads of sweat on his forehead. “Coward” I muttered.
“It's nice to you too “Jackson” he smirked looking at me.
That voice, the butterflies started again, I tightened my legs.
“It's Johnson not Jackson,” he tried to correct him. But Draven didn't care. “ I'm Draven Stefano De Santos, CEO of Dras oasis as you know. Would be nice to know each and everyone of you since you're a department of 4 and I will be working closely with your department” he said, eyes still on me.
I squirmed, trying to get control of my body. It's like I lost control over my own body. Lost in my thoughts, I didn't know it was my turn to introduce myself till Madison elbowed me.
I cleared my throat, “uhummm…. I…I'm Reyna Sartori, junior data Analyst.” I stuttered.
How was I going to give this presentation if I'm already a stuttering mess? My mind drifted back to the dream I had and the last thing he said to me.
“Bend you over and f**k you senseless”
“....Now I would like to hear what you have been upto over the last 2 months.” That snapped me out of my dirty thoughts.
“Hell no!! I'm getting fired today” I thought to myself.
“Who is in charge?,” he asked. “Miss Sartori will do that,” Mr Johnson replied. “Bastard,” I muttered.
I stood and walked over to the front where I could face everyone.
I took a deep breath and began my presentation, trying to focus on the data and numbers in front of me. Not looking at the eyes boring holes into my body. "Over the last two months, our department has seen a significant increase in sales, with a 25% growth in revenue," I started, trying to sound confident.
I clicked the remote, and the first slide appeared on the screen behind me. "As you can see from this graph, our sales have consistently risen, with a slight dip in the middle of the quarter."
His eyes were still fixed on me, his gaze intense. I felt like he was seeing right through me, but I tried to maintain my composure.
I continued, "Our data analysis shows that this growth is largely due to the successful implementation of our new marketing strategy, which has resulted in a 30% increase in customer engagement."
I clicked to the next slide, showing a breakdown of the data. "As you can see, our social media campaigns have been particularly effective, with a 50% increase in followers and a 200% increase in engagement."
He nodded thoughtfully, his eyes never leaving mine. "Go on," he said, his deep voice commanding attention.
I swallowed hard and shivered, trying to get through the rest of the presentation without stumbling. "Our analysis also shows that our customer retention rate has improved significantly, with a 20% decrease in churn rate."
I clicked to the final slide, showing a summary of the data. "Finally, our data analysis shows that our department has made significant progress over the last two months, with a strong growth in sales and customer engagement."
I took a deep breath, finishing the presentation. I saw him nodding, a small smile playing on his lips.
"Well done, Reyna," he said, his eyes still fixed on me. "That was brief and comprehensive"
I let out the breath I've been holding, thinking I had made it through the worst of it. But then he spoke again. "Now, I'd like to ask some questions.” he smirked.
Beads of sweat formed on my head despite the Air conditioner on. "Ah,....yes, of course sir," I replied, trying to sound confident.
He leaned forward, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Can you explain the discrepancy in the sales figures between the first and second quarters?"
I hesitated, trying to remember the exact reason. "Ah, yes...I think it was due to a change in our pricing strategy," I replied, trying to sound sure.
He raised an eyebrow. "A change in pricing strategy? That's not what I was told. I was told it was due to a mistake in the data entry."
I felt my heart sink, realizing I had made a mistake. "I...I apologize, sir. I must have misspoken."
He leaned back in his chair, putting his fingers together. "I see. Well, let's move on to the next question. Can you tell me more about the social media campaigns that resulted in such a significant increase in engagement?"
"Yes, of course. We implemented a new social media strategy, focusing on more targeted ads and engaging content, increased our posting frequency and..."
Dras Oasis cut me off, his eyes glinting with amusement. "I think we've heard enough, Reyna. Thank you for your presentation."
He stood up, walking towards the door, “Reyna, I'd like to see you in my office in….,” looking at his wristwatch, “...in five minutes.” With that, he left.
