MEETING HIM

“That's alright Reyna, you can't keep crying over that fool” my best friend Enzo said as he entered my apartment. “It's been two weeks already, I know you gave him three years of your life, you shouldn't let him dictate the rest of it. His cheating ass doesn't deserve you.” “What do you want me to do, En? Am I supposed to act like I'm alright and just move on like nothing happened? Come to think of it, it's Kiera of all people! Jesus” I sobbed harder “my arch-enemy” Enzo hugged me tight “it's alright Rey, Sebastian didn't deserve you. It's his loss. I guess it's a good thing you never let him have your girl candy all these time.” I chuckled, Enzo had been my friend since college. He was full time gay and a w***e at that. No day passed where he didn't get laid. It's a wonder how we are still friends. “I guess it's a good thing I never did. Do you think that's the reason he cheated?” I asked Enzo. “Girl, it's time you said Boy Bye, a man who truly loves you won't do that to you let alone with someone he knows you despise. Anyway go wash your snotty face, I've got plans for us and you are coming even if I have to drag you.” Ten minutes later, I'm arguing with Enzo, he wants us to go to a club. “Enzo, I'm not going to a club with you, where I'll end up third willing only to come back home alone.” “Oh dear, you won't be a third wheel, we'll get you a man.” He said. I looked at him bewildered “you want me to find a man in the club? You're out of your mind En.” “For f**k sakes Rey, I'm not asking you to sleep with a man, just have fun with a different man and forget about that cheating bastard. That's all I ask.” He paused, holding my shoulder, “Rey, you're a beautiful brunette, with the most alluring green eyes I've ever seen, you are beautiful inside out, have you seen yourself, if I were straight, I'd do you and never leave you.” He sighed heavily, “so girl, go freshen up, I'll pick an outfit for you, and we’ll go to the club yeah?” I sniffed, holding back tears. I hugged him tightly. Enzo had me all emotional, “thank you En, I'll be out in an hour. I need a long soak.” I headed for the bathroom, pulled off my clothes and soaked in the bathtub. I let myself cry for the last time. Sebastian didn't deserve me. Kiera didn't deserve me. They can both rot. An hour later, as promised I was out of the shower. Heading to my bedroom, I saw the clothes Enzo laid out for me. Smiling, “damn Enzo would turn me to a slut. I chuckled “okay, let's do this”, not like it's the first time I'm going to a club. Actually, I only want to go to the club with Sebastian. “ Snap of it Reyna, club time it is.” I slipped into the tight, black dress Enzo had chosen for me, feeling so nervous. I hadn't been to a club since Sebastian. The thought of going without him felt strange. But Enzo was right, I needed to move on and have some fun and that's what I'm going to do. I applied light makeup and styled my hair to a messy low bun,and was ready. Coming out of my bedroom, Enzo whistled and gave me a thumbs-up. "Girl, you look stunning! Sebastian's loss, " then i slipped on my red pumps. Enzo had already booked an Uber, we got in and headed out to the club. The music beat loud through the air as we walked in. Enzo grabbed my hand, leading me through the crowded dance floor to the bar. "What's your poison, Rey?" he shouted over the music. I went for Devil's Margarita. The bartender prepared our drinks and handed them to us. Taking a sip as Enzo started dancing beside me. I couldn't help but laugh at his antics, feeling the weight lift off my shoulders. Maybe this was exactly what I needed – a night out with my friend, letting loose and forgetting about Sebastian and Kiera. Enzo dragged me onto the dance floor, spinning me around, we danced and drank like crazy people. Feeling free from the heartache that had been weighing me down. That's when I saw him – a tall, dark-haired guy with piercing blue eyes, watching me from across the room. Enzo noticed my gaze and followed it, grinning mischievously. "Oh, Rey, I think you've got an admirer. Go say hi, I'll be here, dancing the night away.” “Besides I've got my eye set on a fine man at the bar. I followed his gaze. “ Oh my God En, you and the bar guy been giving yourselves the googly eye! You naughty man.” He laughed out loud,” I didn't want to leave you….” Scratching the back of his head. Enzo was really my friend. “ Enzo, go have fun. Besides, I might take up that offer…” he looked confused now. “I mean the offer of talking to the blue eyed man staring holes into my skull. I finished. “That's my girl, go get that fine meat, but be careful, text me if it's going weird okay?” I nodded at him. With that he left to the other side of the bar. If I was going to talk to a man, I needed more alcohol in my system. I was about to take a gulp down the fourth shot of sour tequila I ordered when I heard the seat beside me shift. Looking up, I noticed it was the man from earlier. I scoffed, “stalker much” before I downed the shot in my hand. I was going to have a madass hangover tomorrow. Am I regretting it, no! But boy was I still sober. The man beside me smiled a little. But that wasn't what caught my attention. He is stunning. His blue eyes were glowy, his jet black hair styled and shiny, his dimples prominent, sharp jawline, then those pink plump lips …. “Jesus Reyna get it together.” I scolded myself. He chuckled louder, “ You should definitely take a picture, ogling me won't be enough” he said. “Damn that voice deep and silky,” I blushed furiouly. The butterflies in my stomach danced and somersaulted at the same time. I didn't react like this with Sebastian, not even when we met. Or is the alcohol taking over. I snapped back, “I see, arrogant too,” I chided. This time he let himself laugh out loud. “ If it's any consolation, I've been staring at you the whole time,” he said. Making me blush beetroot. I couldn't help it, the man was hot. Staring at his hand, I noticed how bulgy his muscles were, his hands veiny and tattoos peeking out of his sleeve. “This man is hot” ooops I had said that out loud. He chuckled while checking me out. “My name is Draven.” He brought his hand out for a shake. I took it. Grip firm, palms soft “ I'm Reyna.” I gulped trying to get myself together. “Nice to meet you, and I love your name. It's rare and soothes you.” “Well, thanks Drav” I shortened the name. His gaze was so intense, my heartbeat sped up. “ I see you've given me a nickname already.” Yep, the alcohol was kicking in. I was never this confident. I felt my heart flutter at his words, only this time, it was a different man. My cheeks warmed up again. I couldn't believe how easy it was to talk to him, how natural it felt. "So, Reyna, what brings you here tonight?" Draven asked, his voice low and smooth. I shrugged, taking another sip of my drink. "Just trying to have some fun, forget about my ex." His expression became sympathetic. "Ah, I'm sorry. Breakups can be tough. My guess was right though.” I was confused. “What do you mean?” I asked. “I saw you dancing with a guy, he isn't your boyfriend.” I burst out laughing, “that's my best friend Enzo. He is gay with no apology.” “Oh!!” I nodded, "Yeah, and it's been rough. But I'm trying to move on." Draven's eyes met mine, his gaze intense. "I'm glad you're trying.” “So…,” he changed the topic which I was grateful for, and found myself feeling more at ease with Draven. He was easy to talk to, and I loved the way he made me laugh easily. Before I knew it, time had gone and I needed to go home. Bringing out my phone, I saw a message from Enzo. “ Don't wait for me boo, I'm going home with Jonathan.” I snorted. Typical Enzo. Looking up, “it's high time I go home. I've got work tomorrow.” He stood from the chair. The man was tall - standing 6 '7, his shirt clung to him like a second skin. I resisted the temptation to look down. I'm sure he noticed me drooling, because he smirked. “Come Reyna,” walking me out of the club, his hand on the small of my back. “Let me take you home, it's late and dangerous out there.” His voice low and husky, eyes dilated “... Stop looking at me like that Reyna, I'm hanging onto my last self control. I want to kiss you hard, bend you over and f**k your brains out.” I gasped, heat pooled on my cheeks, I felt my panties wet instantly and that was a first. “Don't look so shocked, Reyna, I'm no saint. I sure as hell don't f**k drunk women. And you're too innocent to be treated that way. So I suggest, I take you home and find my way back to my house. I've got work tomorrow too.” I bit my lip so hard, I'm sure I drew blood. “Okay, thank you.” I replied.
