chapter 6
"My dear, do you want to get engaged to Dominic?" Chad asked, his eyes fixed on Emma's face.
Emma's mind racing with thoughts of her past life and the betrayal she suffered at Dominic's hands, she forced a smile onto her face. "Yes, I'd be happy to get engaged to Dominic," she said, her voice sweet and agreeable.
Dominic's face lit up with a smile, and he looked at Emma with adoration in his eyes. But Emma's gaze was cold, her eyes calculating as she thought about her plan for revenge.
Chad nodded, seemingly pleased with Emma's response. "Excellent! We'll start making arrangements for the engagement party immediately."
As the family began discussing the details of the engagement party, Emma's mind wandered to her plan. She thought about how she would play along with the engagement, gathering information and waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
Meanwhile, Alexa sat quietly, observing the scene with interest. David tried to catch her eye, but she ignored him, not interested in his attempts to talk to her.
The meeting concluded, and the family members began to disperse. Emma stood up, her eyes locked on Dominic's face. She smiled sweetly at him, and he smiled back, unaware of the danger that lay beneath her charming facade.
Let's continue the story from where we left off.
The next day, Alexa Xavier arrived at school, her eyes scanning the hallway as she followed Emma and her family from a distance. She didn't interact with anyone, her expression neutral as she went about her day.
After school, Alexa headed home, following the instructions her grandfather had given her. She didn't think much of the situation, just doing as she was told.
Meanwhile, Emma was thinking about the upcoming holiday and decided to go on a shopping trip to buy some new clothes. She invited her friends, but they were all busy, so she decided to go alone.
"I'm going to buy some expensive clothes for the holiday," Emma said to her mother, who nodded and handed her some credit cards. "Be careful, and don't overspend," her mother advised.
Emma smiled and headed out, enjoying the freedom of shopping alone. She went to the most expensive stores, buying designer clothes and accessories. As she shopped, she thought about her plan and how she would play along with the engagement
Emma walked into the most expensive store in town, her eyes scanning the racks of designer clothes. She was determined to find the perfect outfit for her revenge plan, something that would make Dominic take notice.
As she reached for a stunning red dress, she bumped into someone, and her shopping bags went flying. "Oh, sorry!" she exclaimed, ready to argue with the person who had collided with her.
But when she looked up, her words caught in her throat. The man standing in front of her was breathtakingly handsome, with chiseled features and piercing blue eyes that seemed to see right through her. His dark hair was perfectly styled, and his tailored suit accentuated his broad shoulders.
For a moment, Emma forgot about her plan and her anger. She was shocked, her eyes locked on the man's face as if she couldn't believe what she was seeing. "Wow," she breathed, her voice barely above a whisper.
The man smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "It's okay, I'm fine," he said, his deep voice sending a shiver down Emma's spine. "But maybe you should watch where you're going."
Emma felt a flush rise to her cheeks as she realized she was staring. She quickly apologized and began gathering her shopping bags. "I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going," she said, trying to composed herself.
The man helped her gather her bags, his hands touching hers as he handed her a bag. Emma felt a spark of electricity at the touch, and she quickly pulled her hands back.
"Thank you," she said, smiling up at him. "I'm Emma."
"I'm Ethan," the man replied, his eyes holding hers. "Nice to meet you, Emma."
As they stood there, Emma felt a sense of unease. She didn't know what it was about this man, but she felt drawn to him. And that was a problem, because she had a plan, and it didn't involve getting distracted by a handsome stranger.
As Ethan walked away, Emma felt a strange sense of disappointment. She watched him disappear into the doorway, wondering why she felt so drawn to him. She shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts. "What am I doing?" she muttered to herself. "I have a plan, and it's not about getting distracted by a handsome stranger."
Emma slapped her forehead, trying to snap out of the daze she was in. She couldn't afford to let her feelings get in the way of her revenge plan. She had been hurt before, and she knew that love wasn't for her. Her focus should be on taking down Dominic, not getting tangled up in romantic feelings.
As she stood there, trying to gather her thoughts, Emma couldn't shake off the feeling that she had just experienced something unexpected. She didn't know what it was about Ethan that had caught her attention, but she knew she needed to push it aside.
With a newfound determination, Emma continued her shopping, trying to focus on her plan. But her mind kept wandering back to Ethan, and the way he had smiled at her. She pushed the thoughts away, reminding herself of her goals and the reasons she couldn't let her guard down.
The days passed, and Emma's engagement to Dominic was just a week away. She had been playing the role of the perfect fiancée-to-be, all the while planning her revenge. But now, she couldn't help but wonder if she was truly in control of her emotions.
