chapter 7 As the days went by, Emma found herself thinking about Ethan more and more. She couldn't understand why she was drawn to him, especially when she had sworn off love and relationships. She tried to push the thoughts away, focusing on her plan for revenge against Dominic. But Ethan's image lingered in her mind, and she found herself wondering what he was doing, what his life was like outside of that brief encounter. She shook her head, chiding herself for being foolish. The engagement party was just around the corner, and Emma knew she needed to keep her priorities straight. She couldn't let her feelings for a stranger distract her from her goal. As she prepared for the party, Emma's family and friends were buzzing with excitement. They were all thrilled about the upcoming wedding, and Emma played along, pretending to be the happy bride-to-be. But inside, Emma was seething with anger and resentment. She was determined to take down Dominic and make him pay for what he had done to her. The night of the engagement party arrived, and Emma put on a stunning dress, her hair and makeup perfectly done. She smiled and laughed, playing the role of the happy fiancée, all the while thinking about her plan and how she would execute it. As she looked around the room, Emma's eyes scanned the crowd, searching for any sign of Dominic's accomplices. She knew she needed to be careful, that one misstep could ruin everything. And then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw him. Ethan. Standing across the room, looking handsome and confident. The music changed, and the guests began to mingle. Emma's family and friends were congratulating her and Dominic on their engagement, and Emma played along, smiling and laughing. But her eyes kept drifting back to Ethan, who was standing alone by the bar, sipping a drink. Emma felt a pang of curiosity, wondering what his story was, what had brought him to this party. As she watched him, Ethan looked up, and their eyes met once again. This time, Emma didn't look away. She held his gaze, trying to read the expression in his eyes. And then, in a moment that seemed to slow down time, Ethan smiled. Emma's family and friends looked on in shock and horror as Dominic's infidelity was exposed. Dominic's face turned bright red with anger and embarrassment as he realized what was happening. The priest, caught off guard, stuttered and stopped speaking. The guests began to murmur and whisper to each other, their faces filled with a mix of shock, disgust, and sympathy for Emma. Emma, meanwhile, stood tall, her eyes fixed on Dominic. She felt a sense of satisfaction and vindication, knowing that she had finally exposed him for who he truly was. Dominic, realizing he had been caught, tried to storm off the stage, but Emma's voice stopped him. "No, Dominic. You're not going anywhere. You're going to face the consequences of your actions." The guests began to applaud, cheering Emma on for her bravery. The engagement was officially off, and Emma was finally free from the toxic relationship. As the scene unfolded, Ethan watched with a mixture of admiration and curiosity. He couldn't help but feel drawn to Emma's strength and determination. As the applause died down, Emma turned to the priest and said, "I think we're done here, don't you?" The priest, still looking stunned, nodded in agreement and declared, "It seems the engagement is off." The guests erupted into cheers and chants of "Good for you, Emma!" and "You're better off without him!" Dominic, still fuming, stormed out of the venue, followed by his friends and family, who were trying to calm him down. Isabella, on the other hand, looked like she had been punched in the gut, her eyes fixed on the spot where Dominic had stood. Ethan, meanwhile, made his way to Emma's side, a smile on his face. "Wow, you're incredible," he said, offering her a nod of admiration. "I'm so sorry you had to go through that, but I'm glad you're free from him." Emma smiled back, feeling a sense of relief and gratitude. "Thanks, Ethan. I'm just glad it's over. I don't think I could have taken much more of that."
