Chapter 11Sunny would never admit as much, but she had been holding the phone, willing it to ring, when Geoffrey called her. She had spent a long, sleepless night thinking about Geoff and Nash, and she hadn’t lied. It wasn’t unpleasant to think about. But it was worrisome. She didn’t think she was jealous, but she was a little scared.
Geoffrey had wanted Nash for years. And Nash had been eager to be with Geoffrey. What if they decided at some point in the night that they didn’t really need her? What if Nash called her and told her he wanted to break things off? And that would ruin everything. She couldn’t continue to work for them. Hell, she might not be able to remain in the state. And a part of her had just known that the phone call was coming.
