The dinner lasted two hours. Selene tracked every minute of it. Not with the visible attention of someone monitoring a situation but with the low steady background awareness she had learned to maintain without it showing in her face or her posture or the ordinary movements of eating and occasionally writing brief responses in her notebook when conversation at her end of the table required it.
