Chapter 1
~Sabrina~
I made a silent prayer to the moon goddess as I crept back into the house using the back door in the kitchen that Mochi should not be in here.
Finding Mochi in the kitchen will set me up for some other troubles that I ain't ready to deal with. I'm just coming out from one and it was the worst so far. My resolution henceforth is to stay clear away from her, but that will only work if she learns to respect herself as well.
Mochi was the real definition of a b***h. She turned my sadness into mourning after dad married her. I lost my mother eight years ago during a pack war and it broke me as well as my father.
Eight years later and I'm yet to move on, but my father comes home with the new love of his life one day. He introduced me to Mochi and I yelled to their faces that I don't want her.
Mochi pretended to adore me at first, but it didn't take long for her to show her real attitude. It all started when she first got pregnant. She made me do all the chores and sometimes I missed school all because she was pregnant and must not stress herself.
My father? He turned a blind eye to all what she did and he never even bothered to get extra help around the house. My father, Beta Zarius was wealthy as he ruled beside one of the most powerful Alphas in the region, Alpha Xander, so he had every means to get omegas who would help around the house, but witch Mochi found a way to convince him not to.
In her opinion, the maids will steal Zarius from her, and why does she need to hire help when Mochi could do it all?
When she lost her pup from her first pregnancy, I became the punching bag and received all sorts of curses. Mochi blamed me, beat me up and my father stayed silent. When I complained to him, he told me to avoid her sometimes and understand she's only frustrated from the loss of their pup.
After Mochi conceived again and birthed a male pup, I thought things would get better, but it only grew worse. Mochi finally succeeded in poisoning my father's heart against me. The things he usually turned a blind eye to, he began to support.
Two weeks ago, I mistakenly broke a plate while doing the dishes. Mochi came into the kitchen, saw the mess and began beating me up but I had already had my fill of her nonsense.
I threw all caution to the wind and attacked her, shifting into my wolf form for a fight. She shifted into her wolf form too, ready for the fight but I was so mad from all the pent up anger and ended up almost killing her.
Zarius had to get help from the warriors to chain me. I lost my s**t that day and my wolf went feral after years of trying to control her not to flip up on Mochi. I broke the chain that had been used to tie me down and ran off to the woods instead where I wandered around for two weeks till I was able to shift back to my human form today.
"Who's there?"
I heard Mochi's voice and the sound of her flip flop. It sounded like she was just walking into the kitchen.
Shit.
'Do not cower away.' Lyra, my wolf urged me.
'This bold attitude of yours is the reason we are stuck in this situation.' I yelled at her and turned around to find another way to sneak into the house.
Just as I walked down the short flight of stairs, the door opened and every hair on my back stood still.
"Well, well, well... Welcome back home Sabrina. I see you've finally overcome your feral state. Too bad, I thought that was going to be a permanent condition."
Sabrina, do not reply. Do not reply. Do not reply.
I chanted in my head repeatedly, fighting against my wolf's will.
It was very possible for me to have lost myself while in that feral state. Some werewolves go feral and they never get to shift back to their human forms, then they go rogue.
"And where the hell do you think you're going to!?" She barked at me the moment I took another step down the stairs.
"Get your ass back in here! There are a lot of chores to do."
I sighed, turned around and walked back into my place of doom. Mochi eyed me with a distasteful look. She was a beautiful she-wolf but she seems like a demon to me in times like this. She has long blonde hair which she packed into a messy bun. She was wearing shorts and a tank top which came down too low around the neckline, revealing her cleavage.
She was always dressed slutty while at home and it made me think sometimes if she was trying to pass a statement. There were some looks that were best for the bedroom alone, but today's outfit was quite modest.
I don't miss how her eyes seemed to roam around my naked figure with something like jealousy in her eyes.
"Is that Sabrina?" Zarius said as he stepped into the kitchen carrying Tom across his shoulder.
"Yes. She finally returned home." Mochi answered with a snarl.
I shuffled on my feet under my father's watchful gaze. He's 6 '5 tall, hazel eyes which I got from him while the rest of my features are from my mum which I was grateful for. Jet black hair, pretty face and the curvy body which I sometimes suspected was the reason for some of the harsh treatment I got from Mochi.
Zarius adjusted Tom, moving him to balance on his right waist.
"How are you?"
I was taken aback, not expecting the question in any way.
Mochi snorted. "Well, she looks well enough. There are some tasks she has to get done asap. There's really no time for any welcome back speech."
Zarius glanced at her. "We got maids in her absence."
That revelation stung. So Zarius knows how to employ some maids.
"Yeah, but she needs to start assisting them for the time being until she leaves. Go get dressed, Sabrina and go wash all the bathrooms in this house."
From all she just said, there was only one thing that got my attention. "Wha... What do you mean by... by assisting the maids for the time being till I leave?" I stuttered, not because I was scared, well I wasn't excited either, but the possibility of leaving this hell hole was worth getting happy for even though wherever I'll be sent off to may be somewhere terrible.
"Uhh... I forgot to break the news to you. Do me the honors Zarius. You're her father."
The way Mochi spoke raised a cause for concern.
I turned to Zarius with an open mind, ready to hear the worse.
"We both decided it's best you go to Wild Wolf Academy considering what happened the last time."
I stared and stared at him long enough, waiting for the but or the part where he would say "but not now" but it never came. I turned to Mochi and she was wearing her usual devilish smirk.
"You both can't be serious!"
Sweat broke out on my forehead as my hands began shaking.
"Do we look like we are joking!?" Mochi snapped at me.
"But it was just a one time encounter! You can't just conclude I'm a wild wolf! Besides, you pushed me into it." I accused her.
She drifted closer to me. "What did you say?" She said, followed by a slap across my cheeks.
I held my cheeks and rubbed away the sting. Tom started crying so Zarius took him away from the scene.
It's sick that he doesn't want his son to watch ongoing abuse, and he does nothing to stop it.
She raised her hands again to strike me but I held it.
Well, it was Lyra that forced the hands to move. Looks like she had gotten enough of the abuse and wouldn't tolerate rubbish anymore.
'Lyra, please.' I begged her.
'No. We need to put this b***h in her place.' She said back and I sighed, feeling defeated.
"Zarius! Come see how she's now challenging me. You see why I insisted she go to that Academy?"
So this was all her idea. I knew my father wasn't that evil even though he tends to dine with the devil.
"Get. Your. Hands. Off. Me."
I released her hands and took a step back, expecting an attack from her but she did nothing. I sensed a sort of fear in her eyes. So she's scared of me now? Ah, it must be as a result of the fight the last time. Too bad I didn't get to see how wretched she looked after my wolf had pounced on her. Maybe that's why she wanted me out of the house.
"I can't go to that school."
She sneered. "We are not asking you what you think. The decision was made three days after you didn't return home. We have registered you and your acceptance letter came to the mailbox this morning."
Colour drained out of my cheeks. I must be dreaming, for real. The worse set of students in Wild Wolf Academy are the feral ones as we have heard, and that's because they are prey to those with super powers, but when they go feral, it's a total chaos and madness which is against the rules because they are being taught to control themselves while the wolves with powers are taught how to harness theirs and in some cases, control it. The school was really against feral wolves, and there was no way in hell I would be stepping foot there when I've only gone feral once in my lifetime.
I need to start making an escape plan to get out of this house.
