Chapter 12

1597 Words
~Kaleb~ Khemos is the most rude werewolf to have ever existed. It was a good thing Kael put him in his place last night and didn't let him ride with us. I suspected Kael was attracted to her due to his constant jumping in to save her like she was an egg that will break if not handled with care. There was something about her that drew my attention and it was frustrating that I couldn't pinpoint what exactly it was. There was a connection between us. I first saw her when we were heading towards the hall for orientation and we had locked gazes for a while and then, during the orientation itself. She was beautiful and hot, but I knew that wasn't what got me because there are so many beautiful she-wolves I've come across. However, she stood out amongst them all. I can't tell if she's my mate because I'm yet to clock eighteen. My brothers and I will be eighteen in a few months, so till then, I won't be able to tell. And there was some more thing, Sabrina will also have to turn eighteen for two mates to recognise each other. Now, with Kael acting all friendly around her, I may as well back off because I don't know his intentions towards her. Khemos was the only one that disliked her existence and that was as a result of his insufferable hate for females from his ex lover, Jacqueline. I don't think she's resumed school yet, because it's going to be another fun academic year with her presence. "What are your plans for today?" Kael asked, drawing me away from my thoughts from where he sat on my couch, playing a video game. I yawned out loud and stretched out on my bed. "I don't have plans for today. I very much want to stay indoors and get enough rest before we officially begin lectures." "Okay. As you wish. I will be going out to hangout around campus. You and Khemos really love being loners. Sometimes, I wonder how I got entangled in this triplet squad." That got me chuckling. It was true that Kael was the most extroverted amongst us and friendly as well. "I'm better at least. Khemos is worse." "Yeah. Do you know what he's up to?" "Don't know and don't care. Maybe in his bedroom fisting his c**k to ease out his blueballs." Kael turned to glance at me. "And what about you? You don't think you need release?" I huffed. "I'm celibate." "Dude, please, don't say that again." I scratched my hair. "Well, I just know how to take care of myself and how I do that is none of your business. I'm not like you that hops on one night stands." He gives me a 'f**k you' sign and I smiled. "You're beginning to overstay your welcome." "Are you kicking me out?" "Yes." He snorted. "That's rude. But I'm hungry and may be stepping out soon." "Okay. Let's go out to get some food then." We left my room a few minutes later after I got dressed, and we went to the cafeteria. Kael bumped me on my shoulders after we got our food and were going to pick a table. "Hey, she's here." I frowned. "Who?" "The Sabrina girl from yesterday. Can we go over to say hi and ask how she's doing?" My heart skipped a bit after he said her name and I scanned the room for her immediately. There was a rush of different emotions the moment my eyes landed on her. She was wearing a black pleated skirt and a white crop top. Her hair was in a high ponytail and I wondered if she ever wears another style aside from ponytails. "No." I gave my answer to Kael's question. "Well then, f**k off. I thought you even showed a little bit of concern over her well-being. I'm going to go say hi." I scoffed. "You can as well go to every student that was initiated last night and ask how they're doing today since you're so concerned." I said to him while he walked over to her and her friend who were both settling down at their table to eat. I chose a table that wasn't so far off from theirs, sat down and began eating my food while watching Kael go play sweet boy with the babe. This was the first time I wished I had powers to hear from afar off. I always disliked that ability because my life will be a crazy mess with wolf interactions getting with my peace at all times, but at this moment, I needed to know what Kael was saying to her that got her chuckling and smiling at him like he was a comedian. It was good enough that Kael doesn't spend much time with them. He scanned the diner for me and made his way towards me after spotting me. "Why do you have that look on your face?" I popped a cheese into my mouth and chewed slowly. "What look?" He shrugged. "I don't know what's going on in your mind but it's leaving a look I can't describe on your face." "Then shut the hell up if you don't have anything to say." “Well f**k off.” He said back to me. I raised my eyebrows at him at his choice of words towards me, but he went on with eating his food like he had said nothing that didn't offend me. I decided to let it pass because as much as Kael was friendly to people, he was also very much annoying to us. "Someone interesting just walked in." Kael said, breaking the silence that had settled over us. "She's walking towards this direction so don't turn yet or she'll know we are talking about her." "We ain't talking about any b***h. You're the only one doing the talking and I can already guess it's Jacqueline." Kael hit his hand on the table but not hard enough to draw the attention of the students around. "You got that right. It's Jacqueline. I wonder when she'll ever give up on chasing back Khemos." I stared at Kael with a bored look, clearly not interested in going on with the conversation. Jacqueline was a past memory that keeps trying to bring herself back to our present picture. "Hi Kaleb. Hi Kael." Gosh. Time to play nice guy. "Hi." I said and forced a slap to my face. These are the times I admire Khemo's personality even though he could be a pain in the ass sometimes. He doesn't give a damn about putting up fake emotions when he isn't in the mood for being chatty. And when it comes to Jacqueline, only a look from him to her usually sends her running miles away from him. We were only fifteen when Jacqueline began getting attached to Khemos. She was the beta's daughter and that was the only way she could come in close proximity with us because my brothers and I hardly mingled with kids our age. We didn't care about being secluded from others because even from a young age, we were already consumed with pack responsibilities, training and trades across and within borders. We grew up seeing Jacqueline around the pack house as the beta's daughter but we didn't interact much with her until a night after her fifteenth birthday party. That was the night her friends and she made the bet for her to get Khemos to fall in love with her and the next day, we saw her begin drawing closer to us, subtly at first like a friend that cared until she lured and wrapped Khemos around her little finger. Their love for each other was so real and strong that I looked up to them for when I'll find the love of my life or mate even though we were all kids back then. But nothing built on the wrong foundation is set to last. One of Jacqueline's friends, out of envy I'll say, exposed the bet that was made to rope Khemos, the lie their relationship was built on and that broke everything between them. Since then, Jacqueline who still hasn't gotten over her affections for Khemos keeps coming back, hoping to get him one day. We got over her for a while after discovering we were special wolves with powers and got admitted to the Academy, but it didn't last long enough after Jacqueline joined us as well. Khemos on the other hand has never dated since then and completely distrusts females. "It's so good to see you both. What about Khemos? Don't tell me he hasn't resumed yet." She said with a light chuckle. I don't bother replying to her. "He has." Kael said after a while in order not to make her look stupid. She breathed out slowly. "Okay." One quick glance at her and I could tell she was so damn nervous. What could she be up to now? Goddess knows I don't want to hear any nonsense. Wriggling her fingers and glancing at me with a nervous look that was beginning to make my skin crawl, she drew out a chair and sat down without being invited to sit with us. I stared at her with cold eyes, growing irritated with her presence at every passing second. "What is it?" "I have a plan to get back Khemos this year, and to get that done, I want you to act like my fake boyfriend.”
