Finding her
"I've told you I'll get an evidence, I just need a little more time" Surrounded my immigration officers Infront of my apartment, they looked at me like I was insane, I felt so guilty that I had to lie through my teeth. "Look ma'am, your stay in the US is over, we have given you extra time to get your documents since you claim that you're married to a US citizen, but we can't give you any more time" The immigration officers spoke, looking me straight in the eyes. "We'd appreciate it if you leave" I felt tears sting my eyes but I kept it together. "Please just give me more time." I begged. The last thing I wanted was to return to Italy. I've built alot here, my job, my friends, and my home in this country. I love it here. I loved being in New York. I love my apartment. But now it was all going to be taken away from me and I would never see it again. "You don't have more time, Miss. Oliv-" The immigration officer began "What's going on here?" A voice asked behind us. I turned around and noticed that it belonged to a man I had never seen before. He was tall with beautiful dark hair and piercing gray eyes that were staring at the officer. He looked and smelt rich. Like something from a magazine. He was gorgeous. His white shirt was a perfect fit was and his sleeves rolled up. "Babe! I was just trying to tell these men that I'm married and I hava every right to be here!" I exclaimed while throwing myself into his arms. The stranger tilts his head to the side in confusion as he looks at me and then at the officers. "I've been looking everywhere for you" He smiles sweetly as he takes me by the arm and pulls me into his frame. My heart skips a beat as he places a gentle kiss on my cheek and wraps his arm around me. "See? Told you I had evidence" I roll my eyes at the officer. "We're so sorry ma'am" He says apologetically. "But you still have to submit your marriage certificate" "Well we dont have that with us everywhere we go" His voice sounds like honey, soft and soothing yet deep at the same time. "We'll get the certificate to the immigration office soon" The officers nod before walking off without a word and leaving me alone with the mysterious stranger whom I got into my problems. Clearing my throat I take a quick glance at him before turning back to look down at the ground. "Married huh?" "Look I'm so sorry for abruptly putting this on you and-" I began to apologize profusely but he cuts me off. "It's okay" He says with an amused smile "Was just helping someone in need. But you do need to submit that marriage certificate" He states matter of factly. He's right. I know that I need to submit the marriage certificate, otherwise I will be deported or even sent to jail for lieing. "Do you stay around thos neighborhood?" I ask trying to change the topic. "Nah. Here to see someone" He answers and gives a wink, his eyes twinkle and his lips curve up as he begins to slowly walk backwards. I am speechless. This man is a walking Greek sculpture. He has such a nice jawline, his mouth is so pretty and the dimples on his cheeks are so cute that I want to pinch them between my fingers. "Who? Your girlfriend?" he chuckles, the sound sends electricity through my body. "Hmm... would be nice to have one right?" he replies and with that he's walking towards the house next door. I watch him go until he disappears around the corner and my mind goes blank. Why did I have to ask if he came to see his girlfriend? He'll think I'm weird. I run my hands through my hair, hoping it covers how flustered and embarrased I am. Ethan's POV A small smile appears on my face when I remember the little interaction I just had with her. Seeing her argue with officers got me worried even though I've never met her before. I had to intervene. She was breathtaking and she had such a strong accent. Not like any Italian accent I ever heard. That made her different. It was refreshing and attractive. "Ethan? Are you going to come in?" My thoughts are interrupted when Uncle Bob opens the door. "Hey old man" I greet him and step inside. "What were you thinking that you didn't notice when I opened the door?" he scolds me playfully. I chuckle before taking a seat beside him on the couch "Who's the girl next door?" He stares out the window thoughtfully before answering. "I don't really know her, she was already there when I moved in" He says and shoves my shoulder "Why? You have a crush on her?" "What? No!" I protest quickly. Uncle Bob chuckles quietly before continuing "About your inheritance, you do know that your grandfather made it compulsory that you can only claim your inheritance with a wife right?" "I don't even have a girlfriend, talk more of a wife" I mutter under my breath. "Well you should get yourself one of those if you want your inheritance" Uncle Bob says sternly. "Yeah sure" I reply sarcastically. My uncle continues, "Maybe I can introduce you to some of my friends daughters?" "No thanks" I respond bluntly before getting up to stand by the window. I see my supposed wife holding a mop while lip syncing to a song, she makes a very bad attempt at moonwalking and falls flat on her ass. A small laughter escapes my lips before I could stop it. Her face turns red, she picks herself up and dusts herself off. She stands in front of her window, looking straight at me and I suddenly feel self conscious. I stare at her, as she stares at me. "I think I found the perfect wife"
