CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Jenny“You did what?” I screamed. “I’m not a lab rat! I won’t do it!”
He reached out, but I pushed him away, stumbling backwards. The pain on his face almost lessened my anger, but then his words echoed in my mind and I held onto my fury.
“I want to go home,” I snarled. “Now. You can’t do this to me.”
“I’m not doing anything to you!” he shouted before clasping a hand over his mouth. “I’m sorry,” he said quietly. “I fought for you. They wanted to take you away as soon as we landed. My brother and I managed to change their minds. You’re not going to be a lab…rat, as you call it. I’m going to be there the entire time. They won’t hurt you. I swear.”
His shoulders were slumped, his expression sad and beaten. It was hard being angry at him when he looked so defeated.
