Tuck stepped through the front door of the house he hadn’t been inside in more than twenty years. Memories flooded back. Not just the last fight. The last time he left the house. Not just dark, angry memories, but good ones too. Sweetness. He remembered playing on the floor with cars. He remembered sitting at the kitchen table for Thanksgiving dinner. He remembered laughter, hugs, smiles. Sometimes those were few and far between, but not always. After a moment. His mental vision cleared, and he was able to see what was around him.
