“Tell me who are you? I have not seen you in my city. Believe me I know everybody”
“Are you an outsider?” the mayor asked
“Well good sir I am Chris Sterling the mayor of Metro” I informed
He just laughed at me
“Mayor you say? How on earth did Ricardo lost the election in the likes of you” He mocked me
“Mayor” Lancelot trying to get the mayor’s attention
“Keep quiet Lance I am not talking to you!” the mayor shouted
“Hey that’s not how you treat your men” I said as I slam his table
“You do not have the rights to dictate orders at me. Remember you are in my turf” He said
I seriously getting pissed. I cannot stand him bad mouthing me and Lancelot. I clenched my first and was about to punch him in the face, but I saw Lancelot ready to pull his sword.
“Go on hit me”
“Afraid that Lance will stop you?” He said giggling
I turned my back at them then I walk straight to the door
“Next time you need help don’t bother calling us coz I won’t help the likes of you” I said as I slam the door shut
I quickly went out of the building and went to look for my men.
“Hey” I said to get their attention
“Mayor our men and the others are all fully recovered and the beast saw no signs of stray demons” one of my men reported
I unsummon my Divine Beast and we all head back to the town. While travelling I remembered that I was about to leave the city.
“Stop the car” I ordered
“Why? Is there a problem?” the driver said as he steps on the breaks
“Here take this” I said as I hand over the key to the city
“If anyone came looking for me tell them I went on a journey”
“Tell Draxx and Sora I am sorry” I said as I step out of the car
“Mayor wait” one of my men said as he chases me
I used my lightning fast feed to get out of his sight. Using my gear, I hover above them and kept a close look. They all look worried, several minutes later they all went back inside the car and went on their way. I flew back to Riverade to search for elemental fragments. I acted like I was just a tourist.
I walked around the market and I have this feeling that everyone is looking at me. I slowly turn around and I was right they are all staring at me, I suddenly felt conscious about myself. Then someone hold my shirt. It was a cute little girl
“Thank you for saving us mister” the girl said with a pleasant smile in her face
I was touched, then her mother picked her up
“Sorry” the mother said
“Bye bye” the girl said
I continued walking and still the crowd are all looking at me. I scanned the entire market, and I did not find a single elemental fragment. I searched the town central next. There I saw Lancelot and his men patrolling. I tried hiding from post to post to avoid being seen I do not want to make another commotion
“So far so good” I said as I saw no one’s looking at me
“You there stop” A man shouted
“No!” I shouted inside my mind
I slowly turn around luckily, I was not the one he is addressing to. I quickly went off to avoid being spotted
“Going somewhere?” a figure said to me
At first, I was clueless, but that tone is awfully familiar. I turned to have a look; it was Lancelot
“What are you still doing here after what mayor said to you?” he said as if he is concerned about me
“Tell me, why are you here this late? Don’t you have a city to run?” He asked with suspicion
“Hey Lancelot about earlier. Does your mayor always act like that?” I asked to divert his attention
He gave me a smirk
“As a matter of fact he is”
“You see our city isn’t as well established as the Metro and Citadel” He informed
“And how did you come up with that assumption?” I asked
He tilt his head as if he wants me to follow him. He started walking away so I followed him. He was walking to fast then turned into a narrow alley.
“Where did he run off to” I said as I ended up in a dead end
“I am over here” Lancelot said as he peeked out from the wall
“Huh?” My reaction as I saw him pass through the wall
He walks towards me and pulls me right in the wall
“I see, that’s why you pass through this wall” I said as I saw a hidden passage
We walk right in the narrow passage, at the end there is this small town. I felt pity for the people living here. Their houses are all wrecked, the place is unsanitary, and the people all look starving
“Now Chris what can you say about our city?”
“It isn’t what you expected right?” He said
“Yeah” I said while scratching my head
“By the way Lancelot the neighboring cities knew about this?” I asked
“No, even the locals know nothing about this area” He informed
“But how? Surely the people here went outside right?” I asked
“No one is allowed to exit this area unless permitted to” He informed
“What happens if they don’t abide? Are you going to punish them?” I asked
“As soon as they stepped out of the boundary without my permission they will be persecuted” He said
“Isn’t that a bit too harsh? They still have the rights thou” I said
“I admire your sympathy, but the mayor’s orders are absolute” He said
“I see, looks like your strings are too tight. Well then see you later Marionette” I said as I turned my back at him
I felt a sudden change in the wind pattern, so I immediately shift directions
“Too slow” I said without even looking
I evaded Lancelot’s attack. I then summoned a sword. Before I completely summon my weapon, Lancelot was able to strike once more. I quickly ran as fast as I could, but he was able to catch up. I tried shoving some materials to block his way, but he was too agile
