Chapter 50

“Before that explosion didn’t you notice the raging flames on both side of the battlefield?” an assassin said.   “Come to think of it a demon with fire elemental powers asked Asmodeus to heal him.” “He looked totally beat up” Maximus said.   “But that happened before the explosion.” “Surely the Duke whooped his a*s” Mark said.   “Don’t be shock okay.” “But Asmodeus told me that we are not they are after because they have bigger prey to catch.” “Maybe just maybe the Duke was abducted” Solomon said.   “Who is this Asmodeus you are talking about?” Samantha shouted.   “The lady wearing a cloak.” “The one that your father single handedly faced” Solomon said.   “No! No!” Samantha shouted as she sat on the ground.   Everyone tried comforting Samantha making a huge commotion. Someone then pulled Solomon out.   “Good you’re here” the elite strategist said.   “Hey mage, what actually happen?” “Did you really fight the big boss?” the elite assassin asked.   “Why not ask your fellow assassin” Solomon said.   The elite strategist then clapped his hands to get the group’s attention The elite strategist grabbed everyone’s attention.   “Want to scout the battlefield?” “You know for closure” the elite strategist asked.   “Yeah, I am sure that there are no more strays around so we should be fine” Solomon said.   “Should we ask permission first?” an assassin asked.   “No need to worry we won’t be gone too long.” “Besides, they need to rest” the elite assassin said.   “So, what are we waiting for?” Mark said as if he is rushing everyone.   “Alright let’s go” Jane said as she takes the lead.   “Wait for us” the group said as they try to catch up.   “So, are we going to split up?” Jane asked.   “That won’t be necessary” Mark said.   “Hey sniper chick” the elite strategist said.   “What is it dweeb?” Jane asked.   “Have you seen where Commander and the Duke flew off?” the elite strategist asked.   “Yeah, straight ahead to intercept the upcoming hoard.” “After that I have no clue” Jane answered.   “You all heard her, right?” “We’ll go straight ahead maybe there we can find clues” the elite strategist said.   The group travelled straight.   “We are all lucky that we didn’t die here” an assassin said as he scout the battlefield.   “Yeah, to think that we are only students.” “Most of us even lack combat experience but here we are now searching for someone” Tyrone said.   “Even I can’t believe I am still breathing after facing that bitch.” “I still have a lot to learn so when the time comes that our paths cross again, I’ll make sure I’ll kill her” Solomon claimed.   “Yeah, I also thought I am a goner.” “That demon is on a way higher level and it is severely injured” Maximus said.   “Especially me if that sniper didn’t shoot that demon’s hand” Mark said.   “No need to thank me” Jane said as she scouts the area using her scope.   “So, I am still lucky that I only faced demons in the battlefield” an assassin said.   “Guys I think we’re close.” “I can see another warzone and looks pretty devastated” Jane informed.   “Can I see?” the elite assassin said as he reaches for Jane’s sniper.   “I don’t think so!” Jane said as she shoves the assassin away.   “Let’s get a move on” the elite strategist said.   The group continued walking. After several minutes they reached the other warzone   “Guys look scorch marks” Mark informed.   “Guys look over here” Jane said, and she seems shocked.   The group were all shocked as they saw the terrain turn into molten rocks and there are few crater-like damages.   “It still extends towards nowhere” Jane informed.   “This side is scorched too” Maximus said.   “So does this side” Tyrone said.   “I got it!” “All sides are scorched except the city, right?” “Surely the Duke blocked the enemies’ attack just to save the city” the elite strategist assumed.   “I think you’re right, but the Duke didn’t die from that attack.” “Coz if he died the city should be ashes by now.” “It is safe to say that after blocking the attack he might have burnout immobilizing him.” “So, he might be abducted or been slain elsewhere coz there isn’t a drop of blood anywhere” Tyrone assumed.   “We should head back and report this to Commander” Solomon said   The group decided to head back.   “Sam it’s alright I know that Master is safe.” “He’s the strongest person I know.” “So please stop crying” Dean said as he wipes Samantha’s tears away.   “But I saw how he blocked the huge fireball that is heading straight to the city.” “I am sure that the ray of light is his doing.” “I know Papa is the strongest one here, but it doesn’t change the fact that he is still human.” “We all have our limitations” Samantha said sobbing.   Dean was speechless so does everyone else.   “Excuse me” Samantha said as she heads back to the academy.   The crowd started saying something as soon she passes by them. It seems they pity her.   “Okay that’s enough!” “We should all head back to the academy. We all deserve a good long rest.” “Hold up assassins I have a special mission for all of you” Commander ordered.   The students all head back to the academy while the assassins regroup.   “All right, I want you to go fetch the townspeople and inform the priest to prepare for a mass for out fallen comrades.” “That would be all” Commander ordered as he went on his way.   The assassin then went on their way to the safe house.   “Where am I?” I said as I regained my consciousness.   Moments later my memory flashes back   “Ah!” I reacted as my head started to ache.   I tried summoning any gear, but I cannot. I attempted several times still no luck. I never felt so powerless up until now. Instead of mopping around I stood up and started walking. I am unfamiliar of the area and there is not any landmark onsite just a vast rocky field. I roam around in search for a nearby town or any villagers wandering around.
