In a dark, empty, freezing room, Elena Carson lay on the cold concrete floor, shivering. Her teeth chattering so hard her jaw was beginning to ache.
The room smelled of dried blood and rust. The smell should have made her sick but it didn't,
Nothing bothered her anymore.
She was really hungry.
She hadn’t eaten in days. She would trade her name, her wedding ring, her last breath for one piece of bread,a sip of water or just anything edible.
Elena knew she wasn’t going to make it.
She could feel death sitting in her chest. The cold wasn't helping either it had gone past her skin and into her bones. Her heart beat continued to slow down with each passing minute.
The person who put her here and caused her this agony was none other than her husband,
Daniel turners.
The man who once called her his “forever.” The man who slipped a ring on her finger in front of both their families and promised to protect and cherish her like none other.
_Protect._
The word tasted bitter in her mouth now.
Her mind slipped like It always did when the pain got too bad and suddenly, she wasn’t on the floor anymore.

_FLASH BACK-2 weeks ago_
The grand ballroom was all gold and crystal. Chandeliers dripped light over silk dresses and expensive suits,
Music floated through the air, Laughter. Clinking glasses.
It was supposed to be a celebration party,a day to celebrate
The day two powerful families joined together. The Carsons and the Turners.
Elena stood between them in a golden gown, Daniel’s hand on the small of her back.
To her
To her left:her father and her step mother stood there along with Daniels parents all smiling brightly at her.
To her right, were other relatives and friends along with her stepsister,Alexa wearing bold red and looking at Daniel like he belonged to her.
Elana was happy surrounded by her family and also the Love of her life. Her happiness was shortlived as soon, the doors at the back burst open.
Men in black masks came in fast.
Elana looked shocked'who were they'she asked herself but seeing everyone around her seemingly calm she relaxed too thinking they were just security.
Then One of them grabbed Elena’s arm and yanked her.
"Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!"she screamed,"let me go this instant!"
She looked around hoping someone would say something or at least help her but...
No one moved.
No one shouted.
Daniel’s grip on her arm loosened… and he let go.
As soon as Daniel grip on her loosened, she was dragged away, nobody moved not even Daniel.
Her father looked and her and just silently turned his face away.
Her stepmother didn't even look bothered and just took a sip of her champagne.
Alexa didn’t even blink.
"Some help meeeee!!!"she continued screaming as the men in black dragged her, hoping someone would come help her but no one did.
They all just sat there and watched,
Her own family watched her being dragged out of the ball, and they said nothing.
The last thing Elena saw before the black hood came down was Daniel’s face, that face that was once full of love and passion, calm and utterly devoid of any emotion Like he had expected it.
---
_PRESENT_
Elena gasped and came back to the cold floor, tears freezing on her cheeks.
“Why?” she had asked him that night, when the hood came off and she realized she was in a basement and he was the one who kidn*pped her.
Daniel just looked at her and said:
“You are the key to something very dangerous. Something that could ruin my life. And the life of my master.”
She didn’t understand not even a little bit
but the guards who came every three days to torture her did. They liked to talk while they worked.
That’s how she found out that
Daniel had married again.
And to none other than Alexa her stepsister The girl in red from the ball.
She didn't say anything she just grew numb.Daniel had lied to her,she wasn't the key to anything,he just wanted to get rid of her so he could be with Alexa.
But it still didn’t add up,
If he wanted Alexa, he could have divorced her.
Why kidnap her, torture her and lock her in a cell?
Why let her starve in the dark?
What was the “key”?
What did it have to do with her?
She pondered until she couldn't think anymore nothing made sense.
It didn't matter anyways
Because the truth in reality was that:
Her husband had betrayed her along with her family,
No one was coming to save her
The hours blurred,She cried until she couldn't cry anymore
Her body was shutting down now. Her heartbeat was a whisper and The cold didn’t seem to hurt anymore.
Before the darkness took her, she whispered to no one in particular
“It’s over. At least… I’ll get to be with you, Mom.
I’m sorry. I’m sorry the truth about your death.”
Elena Carson curled in on herself, closed her eyes and let the darkness consume her
That was how Elana Carson died cold ad hungry,
Betrayed by the two families who were supposed to love her.
