MY MOTHER'S MISTAKE

Long ago there live a man called Clement and his wife Mary, and their little baby girl named Anita. Clement was a very hard working person that do everything to make sure he provide for his wife and child,he does all kinds of farm work but Mary his wife was a very lazy woman that loves to eat, drink and gossip with other women, she was never satisfied with what she have.she was always looking for an opportunity to marry a rich man, she always complain whenever she does not get what she wants One faithful day a news spread round the village that one of the chief was looking for a third wife and that who so ever that is interested should come over to his house the next day, immediately Mary heard this news she was happy that this was her ticket to wealth and to leave her poverty husband.the next day she pack her things and left as soon as her husband went to the farm, she left leaving there baby and a short note, she did not even consider their little eight months old baby girl Anita.when Clement returned back from the farm he was shocked and surprised that his wife could left him and their baby to marry a chief that she knows nothing about because of money.Clement was heart broken and fustrated he had no mother afor father,his parents were died a very long time ago his only brother was missing for the past ten years. Clement cryed because he knows that he had no one to keep Anita's with,he could not sleep that night because Anita was crying , she needed breast Milk and her mother was not there and will never going to return, Clement blame himself for everything thing . Clement accepted the fact that he has failed as a husband, but he tried to be strong for Anita ,he did all in his power to provide for her. Anita grow up and become a beautiful girl , she was different from other girl, when she was three years old her father enrolled her in the community and she did well Meanwhile Mariam Anita mother was living well and with plenty , she now wear expensive things like hair, clothes and shoes.she has forgotten about her husband and child. Clement has also tryed to forget about mariam and has focus on taking care of Anita, Anita was intelligent and brilliant she was loved by all her teachers and classmates, Anita was a quiet and gentle girl , she was full with respect and she was a child that all parents will wise to have .After eleven years Anita was now through with her primary education and was looking forward to further her education, she stay at home and assist her dad with work her dad promise her that she will resume School immidataly the term begin One Saturday morning Anita and her father was sitting down out side the house gisting, when they saw a flushing coming to their house they surprised and they wandered what the owner of the car was looking for. No too long the car parked right in the front of the house and the door opened surprisely it was Clement brother that has been missing for so many years Clement was shock , he thought he was dreaming but it was a reality.clement run and hug his brother , they both exchange greetings and clement also told Anita that this was his lost brother, anita was happy that she now have a uncle, they all went inside together, Anita uncle Desmond.desmond told them the story of how he was kidnapped and sold to a very wealthy man that had no wife or child according to Desmond the man was an old man and when the man died ,the man's will was written to Desmond and that was how he become rich , Desmond also said that the man tested him so many times but he past all the test, when Desmond finish talking he asked his brother about his wife in tears Clement told desmond everything of hoe she left him snd their baby Anita and went to marry a chief because of money, Desmond was so sorry for his brother and immediately he began to think of a good way to help his brother not too long he come with an idea and he told his brother that the only way to help him is to train Anita in school not giving him money , Clement was very happy to hear this great news, Anita was also excited that she will be following her uncle to the city to further her education. Few weeks later Desmond was already planning to return with a Anita he also called his wife to inform her that he was coming with his brother's daughter,his wife agreed. Clement called his daughter one Sunday evening and told her to be of good character when get there and to always study and be respectful, Anita promise her father that she will make him proud and happy,they hug each other and went to bed so that they will wake up early to prepare for the city . The next day Anita wake up early and get dressed she was happy and sad at the same time, she was happy that she was going to further her education which was a long time dream and she was sad that she was going to leave her father , she try to hold herself but she could not tears began to roll out from her eyes she had started missing her dad, her dad too as started missing her, Desmond as already got dressed and they left, Desmond gave his brother some money to start up a business so that he will stop going to the farm and also Desmond gave him an andriod phone and also taught him how to operate it. Hours later Desmond called that they had reach there destination,clement was very happy, Desmond's wife accepted Anita with joy and happiness, she will showed Anita to her room, that was very beautiful and colourful, Anita was very happy they treated like a queen. The next day she was enrolled in a very big secondary School and she always did well and everyone loves her and wish to be like her. In the house where maraim lives she has started experience strange thing, Chief has reactly stop giving her money this was a pain to mariam.some years later the Chief was sick and he died,mariam thought that as she was the last wife all the property will be for her.The first and second wife of chief where best friend,they know that maraim was a sellfish and greedy person and in the tradition of the land the first wife is the one to divide their husband property, after the chief funeral, the three wife of the chief sit down and with the help of the chief priest the property was shared But it was not in the favour of mariam, she was only given one house a two million naria she was not happy because she knew that she was a spender Ten years later Anita graduated from the school she was the best graduating student and few weeks after her graduation she was employed by a company and also with an official house and car, after few months of collecting her salary she was become very wealthy and decided to go to the village to see her father and also she bought him a car,clement was happy to greatfull to God and also to Desmond his brother, Anita took off and decided to stay for two weeks the news of her return spread round the village and soon maraim heard it she cried, and regrated her actions mariam has spent all the money that was given to her and she has now become one of the poorest in the village, after she heard the news thay Anita was rich she was broken. One faithful day she was coming back from the market with her friend then she saw a flushing car, the car past her but later revised back ,maraim was surprised to see that it was clement that was riding the car she regreted leaving him with Anita,when mariam got home she could not sleep that night she cried and summon the courage that she go and see her daughter. So the next day she went lmmdiately clement sew her he was angry and he almost beat her up she went on her knees begging that Clement and Anita should forgive her, Anita went inside and come out with an hand bag , one pair of shoe and a wrapper she gave it to her and told her to leave that these things where the only thing she can give her.maraim left crying and in pain.
