CHAPTER THIRTEEN

875 Words
Arielle’s POV Another growl ripped through the warehouse. The sound was so loud the walls almost seemed to shake with it. Another growl followed. Closer this time. My heart hammered violently against my chest. Then suddenly, the metal warehouse door burst open with a deafening crash. Everything happened too fast after that. A huge dark wolf lunged at the first man near the entrance and threw him hard across the room before anyone could react. Gunshots immediately exploded everywhere. The wolf moved impossibly fast. One second it was near the door. The next it was tearing another man away from me before he could even raise his weapon properly. The glowing blue eyes landed on me briefly before returning to the men surrounding us. I stared in complete shock. Blue eyes. Was that Victor? The same man who touched me earlier suddenly grabbed my chair from behind and dragged me backward roughly. “Stay still!” I gasped painfully as the ropes dug deeper into my wrists. The wolf growled lowly and then attacked. The man barely had time to scream before the wolf slammed into him violently. The chair tipped sideways with me still attached to it. Pain shot through my shoulder as I hit the floor. “Arielle.” My head snapped up in surprise. Was that the wolf speaking? It sounded more like a rough growl mixed with my name. Could it really be Victor? By now there was only one man left. The other three laid weak and unconscious on the ground. The man immediately made a run for the door, not willing to fight anymore. The wolf moved to chase him but stopped the moment I whimpered in pain. His attention snapped back toward me instantly. Like I mattered more. The warehouse slowly fell silent afterward. Only heavy breathing remained. The wolf stood in the middle of the room breathing hard while blood stained parts of its dark fur. Then slowly the body began shifting. Bones cracked loudly and the wolf slowly disappeared. And in its place was…Victor. I stared in shock and awe. The wolf was truly Victor. Oh my God. He stood there wearing only black trousers. His chest rose heavily while cuts and blood covered parts of his skin. The first thing he did was walk toward me. “Arielle.” His voice sounded rougher than usual. He crouched beside me quickly and untied the ropes around my wrists carefully. The moment his fingers touched my skin, heat rushed through my body unexpectedly. Memories flashed through my head instantly. Victor pinning me against his kitchen counter. His lips against my neck. His hands gripping my thighs while whispering filthy things into my ear. My breathing became uneven. God. This man was a werewolf. And I slept with him. Victor noticed me staring and his expression tightened slightly. “Are you hurt?” I shook my head weakly. Before I could say more, police sirens echoed loudly outside. Victor immediately stood up. “I called them before coming in,” he muttered while looking toward the entrance. That surprised me. How did he even know where I was? Something the police hadn't been able to figure out until now. Footsteps quickly filled the warehouse moments later. “Police! Drop your weapons!” Several officers rushed inside with guns raised. But they only met with silence as three of my kidnappers were lying on the ground unconscious and the other escaped. One officer looked around the destroyed warehouse in shock before his eyes landed on Victor. “You called this in?” he asked cautiously. Victor nodded once. The officer looked at the men in the ground who had begun to gain consciousness. “Well… you saved her life.” Victor said nothing. His attention stayed on me. Then suddenly, “Arielle!” My father's voice. Relief flooded through me instantly. “Dad!” Harrison Hunt rushed into the warehouse surrounded by more officers and security men. The moment he saw me bruised and shaking, panic crossed his face. “Oh my God.” He hurried toward me immediately and pulled me tightly into his arms. “Are you okay? Did they hurt you?” I shook my head weakly. “I-I'm okay.” My father held my face carefully checking for injuries before finally looking around the warehouse. Then one officer spoke. “The man over there saved her before we arrived Mr. Hunt” My father turned around immediately already saying how much he was grateful and how he would do anything to show his appreciation when his eyes finally met with Victor’s. He froze then. I watched the colour drain slowly from my father's face. “You,” he whispered. Victor immediately went still. My father stared at him like he had seen a ghost. Then slowly his expression twisted into rage. “No…” “Dad?” I frowned in confusion. But he kept staring at Victor. And when he spoke again, his voice shook violently. “It's you” Victor looked away briefly. “ Dad, what is it? you're scaring me” I said And my father without taking his eyes off Victor said “That is the man that killed your mother”
