Old flame!

I ushered in the teens who were under my supervision into the gym hall, we were tardy and it was solely my fault. All eyes were on us, when we entered, the hall was packed to the brim and surprisingly quiet. I noticed that everyone was putting on matching gym outfits.  "Hello, Miss..." the camp supervisor walked up to me her pepper red hair glittering under the fluorescent lights in the gym, she reminded me of the Wicked Step-mother in Cinderella. I swallowed hard. "Allie-My name is Allie" I corrected stretching my right hand.  "Well, Miss Allie" arching her eyebrow on my outstretched hand before looking up "I'd like to remind you that this is a camp built to cater for each student's physical, emotional and social well-being; why are you tardy? where is your co-counsellor? Do you realize that a counsellor can be kicked out?" She was making a scene and every eye was staring at us.  I could feel my cheeks burning with embarrassment. "Well...," she stressed "I need you to explain why you didn't pick up the gym outfit for your house and why you are tardy this morning and honey!, it better be a good excuse" I could feel the sarcasm in her voice. Just before I opened my mouth to speak, A familiar voice spoke from behind me. "Ms Heather," the voice said smoothly "I saw Allie's Co-counsellor minutes ago at the camp's store picking up their gym outfits and I don't think she on the w******p group" Samuel's hand draped across my shoulders easing the tension that had built there.  Ms Heather looked towards me and I nodded my head quickly. "I didn't know there is a w******p group," I said quickly.  She wanted to say something else and simply sighed. "Well, give your phone number to Samuel, No mistakes next time," she said sternly. Looked me all over and she left.  I sighed in relief as I turned back to face Samuel leaning in for a hug, the familiar scent of his aftershave hitting my nose, I snuggled in burying my nose in his jacket. "Allie" he whispered.  "hmmm..." I sighed contently against his jacket. "Everyone is watching," he said with a drawl, his big hands caressing the small of my back. Oh, God! I had forgotten about the sea of eyes staring right now at me. I reluctantly pulled away from him.  "Come let me lead you to your seats," he said with a smile. He took us to the sign that read BEAR, we settled into our seats while Samuel eased his frame beside me. A grey-haired man in his early fifties came to the centre of the gym hall with a microphone.  "Well, seems like the BEARs finally settled in" he glanced towards me. "Now moving on..." he cleared his throat "we'll be having different game activities for all grades and age group" he paused looking at the crowd over the rim of his eyeglass that kept drooping to his nose "And participation would be individually and as a house, so soon after, all students are to under the guidance of their counsellors select sports activities they would love to participate and the selection for the house would be drawn randomly; so the gym instructor would come up now and all take us through some exercise drill, have a nice day". He was finally done. "Wow!, that was long" Samuel exclaimed beside me, I turned sharply to look at him as he smoothed his hand over his hair, his long torso became visible as his shirt rode up. I could see dark hairs just beneath his navel. He was perfect. "When you're done ogling me, you might want to give me that number" he teased with a smile. "I-I am sorry" I blushed batting my eyelids at him.  "I'll see you later" he ruffled my hair fondly and smiled tenderly at me. There was something in his expression I couldn't read.  *** I had this numb ache all over my body as I showered. After the gym drilling exercises, we went to the dance hall and sat painstakingly for 2 hours listening to the history of dance and how to move our body with the tune. We stopped once, for Afternoon lunch and break. I made a quick rush to the storehouse to pick up our gym outfits, our camp jackets and hats. By the time I was done picking up some supplies for each kid and lugging all those stuff around I was visibly tired. My co-counsellor was nowhere to be found. Surprisingly, when it was time to assist the kids to choose their the sport they'll like to participate in, they co-operated. We went through all the sports activities trying to select a suitable and less stressful activity. It was so fun, that it seemed almost like a dream. By the time we were done selecting, the kids were freer with me, we laughed and joked at various experiences and stories they kids told me. I could tell them apart by their names and I felt like an Isaac Newton. *** I dried my body with a towel as I stepped out of the steamy shower humming to an unknown song, I was in a happy mood. I eyed my little wardrobe and I was thankful that Joan helped me pack. My eyes settled on a brown, knee-length strapless gown. I caressed the soft material as I wondered if Samuel would like it. I sighed as I flopped on my bed and faced the ceiling. I knew it was too much trying to nurse feelings that Samuel may like be back. True, he is 5 years older than me, but the age difference made him more desirable. The same familiar giddiness I felt when I was 11 years old whenever I saw him has been replaced by a strong desire to run my hands all over his body and crush his pink lips with my mouth. I wanted to get him naked and explore his well-tanned skin. I wanted to replace his hands on his hair with mine and kiss every inch of his body. I blushed at the thought of kissing him, maybe I was asking for too much. I had to get dressed, Samuel promised to pick me up tonight and I wasn't missing it for the world.
