Chapter 19Vincent left his townhouse almost as soon as he had entered it after returning from the racetrack; he lingered long enough to ensure that the things he had brought with him from Fallshire had been packed in his absence, accepted a sandwich for the road from his town cook, and set off again, eager to be home. He spent the journey composing. He suggested and discarded phrasings, sentences, whole paragraphs as he tried to settle on what words he could put to paper that could begin to set things right between his husband and himself.
