CHAPTER 1:Kiss Of A Stranger
Everyone knew that Nina Walker liked Brian.
What they didn’t know was that, despite being engaged for five years, he had never once touched her.
“Brian, today is our fifth engagement anniversary. When are you coming?”
The private suite on the hotel rooftop was beautifully decorated. Balloons floated gently in the corners, rose lights draped along the walls. Nina had been waiting since 7 PM—it was already past 9 when the call finally connected.
“I’m busy,” he replied.
“Busy with what?” Nina asked softly, but before he could answer, a gentle, feminine voice came through the phone.
“Brian… it hurts…”
Nina’s heart clenched. She hesitated, then asked, “Are you with Lucy?”
“She ran into some trouble,” he said.
“If she’s in trouble, why does it have to be you who helps?” Nina’s voice trembled. “Or… do you think she’s more important than me?”
“Do you have to start this now?!” he snapped.
At that moment, something exploded in Nina’s mind. Her eyes turned red as her heart sank, a coldness wrapping tightly around her chest.
She opened her mouth but took a while to speak. “If that’s the case… then let’s call off the engagement.”
She thought he’d at least say something to comfort her.
But silence.
Nina let out a bitter laugh, eyes welling with tears. What was she even expecting?
She grabbed the opened bottle of red wine and took a long drink straight from its mouth.
By the time she left the suite, it was already past 11 pm.
Stepping into the elevator, she turned around and saw a man standing just outside.
He wore a black suit, had a tall frame, and had sharply defined features. The calm between his brows gave him an imposing presence.
The man studied her as well:
A silk slip dress in deep emerald clung to her curves, her cheeks flushed pink from the wine. She was like a blooming peach blossom—soft almond-shaped eyes, fine brows, a delicate waist. The slit of her dress climbed up to mid-thigh, revealing long, porcelain legs that moved with grace.
A blend of elegance and allure.
But she reeked of alcohol. His gaze darkened slightly, and though he didn’t enter the elevator.
She suddenly stepped forward.
Reaching out, she hooked his tie with her fingers.
And yanked him inside.
The next second, her heated body collapsed into his arms.
The unexpected move made his entire body tense up. He froze.
But in that single moment of hesitation, she was already on tiptoes...
And kissed him.
Her lips were soft and warm.
But her balance was unsteady. Just as she began to slip from his arms...
He caught her.
His hand circled her waist, pulling her close.
The cold metal of the elevator behind her, the heat of the front—it was too much. She could only whimper softly, like a kitten.
The sound was tender and teasing, stirring something deep in him.
As the elevator slowly descended, she felt like she was being pulled deeper into a well of desire.
Ding The elevator reached the first floor.
The heat between them broke.
Her fingers were still curled around his tie as she whispered, “Take me with you.”
She leaned against him, her body warm and pliable, her breath brushing across his skin.
It was a provocation, a seduction.
His gaze darkened. His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly.
For adults, some things don’t need to be said.
Especially when she was this forward.
