Chapter Twenty-Two The switchblade was nestled alongside Jilly's spine, tantalizingly held in place by two long strips of adhesive tape, one of which dangled free, and the other was in imminent danger of letting loose and sending the knife to the floor. Tommy gulped. Jilly had her back toward Tommy and neither Dwayne or Cory could see the knife dangling precariously from Jilly's skin. At any second, the adhesive tape threatened to let go and there would be the embarrassing thump when the knife bounced onto the carpet between Jilly's legs. Tommy did the only thing possible. “You have to excuse my friend,” Tommy spoke up. “She's high-strung and not too bright.
